    Yuck, I never drink diet soda.  It tastes terrible and everyone I know who drinks diet soda and loves it is overweight to morbidly obese.  I also don’t know anybody with normal weight who drinks diet soda.

    Neither do I. 

    I see the spelling as a distinction between Irish and Scotch.

    One of the emigrant branches of the family even changed surname to Mac... from Mc... because the latter was more commonly Irish, the former more Scottish.

    I drank some diet Pepsi for lots of years.  Today I drink bottled water and coffee; I do have an occasional cup or glass of tea.  I do not drink anything else.

    I rarely drink any soda. Once in a while I might have an old-fashioned vanilla Pepsi or Coke at a restaurant, if available. For nostalgia's sake. :)
