How are you going to be affected by the upcoming winter storm? We are getting 4-6 inches of snow

and 50 MPH winds with a flash freeze and negative temperatures.

    I'm not sure how this will play out in NYC.  At the very least, it will be heavy rain, but the temps are supposed to drop to single digits which means ice everywhere.  If that happens, I won't be driving out to Long Island for Christmas.  Bummer.

    That's what I was thinking, but if the temps don't drop below 32, I could make it out to Long Island and back.  I'll see on Saturday night/Sunday morning.

    We don't get a lot of lake effect, since the prevailing winds are SW, but when we do, it's a mess.

      All this snow-related talk! Please, my ears are delicate, and I know absolutely nothing of the topic any longer! Spare me the gruesome details! Grrrrrrr.


      (It recently got so cold here that I had to wrap myself in a beach towel 15 minutes after getting out of the water instead of the 30 to 40 minutes that it usually takes. Brrrrrrrr.)

    So the restraining orders are unnecessary? Minnesota needs to get thawed out every spring.

    Luckily, we will only get rain from this storm but a lot of it!  There is a potential for flash flooding the forecasters are saying.

      Gee, I never even considered that option. I guess my Minneapolis exploits have tainted my line of thinking when faced with certain predicaments. It’s not my fault, though. The meanies who go to court all the time or who love slamming the doors on my foot are really to blame; I’m not that accustomed to being invited in. Grrrrrrr.

    We only got about an 1in. But power did go out for a few hours overnight. We just grabbed some more covers and went to bed.

    Our forecast is the same as yours, except starting a day earlier. It's been snowing all day, but I don't know the total accumulation. I don't know yet if the winds will affect my part of the state. But schools closed early today and are closed tomorrow, so I expect there's a good chance we'll get some serious wind chills and blowing snow.
