Someone offers to give you the money to buy yourself a car, with the stipulation that you cannot sell it.

No limit to the cost and you may use it as a gift. What car do you choose?

This would take more research than I'm willing to do for a hypothetical question.

I kind of felt like that too so I just chose one that I like.  It may not be the best answer for this scenario though.  I did search to see who has the best warranties now and it seems that no one has one as good as Hyundai and Chrysler used to have.....remember those wonderful 10/100,000 bumper to bumper warranties.  No more.

A 67 Buick Wildcat. Like the one in the photo. But with a 6-point racing harness and a roll cage. Cheers and happy weekend!

    Thank you.
I truly adore and love the overall look of this car, every design.
I smile and feel better every time I see one.

    Thanks for a Pick.  :)
I enjoyed looking at the pictures I chose.
Like I already said, I always feel better after seeing one.  :)

Almost any make or model of car, not any one in particular. The facts that someone else is providing me with the money for the purchase and that I cannot sell the car do not make it any different than my decision-making process for buying a car when using my own money: I’d still have an open range of choices as to which car it would be. I’m not one of those people who have a dream car in mind or a bucket list car in mind. I’m not one of those people who want a lavishly expensive car that is beyond my current financial ability to purchase, so I would not select a Bentley, Maserati, Ferrari, etc. It would be a more practical and more simple choice.

Also, the word “it” in your last sentence; are you referring to the car, or to the money when you sat “it may be used as a gift”? When you think about the wording, it can be interpreted either way.

I have to be honest and say that there are few cars that I would choose whether someone was paying for it or not.  I don't know who decided that the front grills on cars should be so huge, but I find that an ugly design.

This looks like someone with huge nostrils.  Yuck!

I just came back here to add to my answer and there isn't one.  I do wonder if I'm the only one who types a nice answer and gets distracted before clicking "Post Reply."

Well, my answer was Ford Bronco just because I really love the reborn one...smaller than the older ones. This post was edited by Thriftymaid at February 20, 2023 9:17 AM MST

Probably a Lexus GX special edition with all the extras.  I feel safer in a large vehicle.  It's not the most attractive car ever but I rode in one two years ago and the inside is heaven. Why would someone sell a vehicle that was given to them, that doesn't make sense unless they already are driving a top of the line car.

Not sure if it's better than the Luxury one, whichever is the better one.  Could not afford the insurance however.

One could purchase a half-million dollar RR and sell it for the cash. That's why the stipulation.

Oh, a gift from someone means something, to just sell it could be rude and uncaring.  I cherish the gifts that are given to me.  One of the most valuable things I own are a handful of used plastic spoons given to me by a woman with Alzheimers.  When she gave them to me I could tell by her expression they were extremely valuable to her, my response was "Oh, I couldn't, it's too much,"  Then she smiled and motioned for me to take them and I received them as she gave them, appreciating her generosity and love.  I keep them in a little blue vase, they mean a lot to me.

Well, that seems out of the realm of possibilities for me, but it's a nice thought. Anyway, anyone who thought enough of me to gift me a car, I would never sell it. Every time I drove it I would be reminded I was cared for and loved, no price is worth giving that up.
