Been there. We got 4 feet of snow last week (100 foot tall trees falling right and left, taking out the power county wide everywhere, numerous buildings collapsing under the weight). Then we got 6 inches of rain (melted a lot of the snow, but still some left). On top of this we had a LOT of wind.
That's a lot more than we had, although about 10 days ago the power was out in our area. I spent the night at my daughter's house in a nearby town. Welcome to spring.
My power was only out for 3 days. I was one of the lucky ones. Many folks in this county lost their power in February and didn't get it back until last Saturday.
The last time our power was out that long, I had to stay at a hotel. To check up on our power situation, I kept calling home. When the answering machine picked up, I knew that the power was back on. One advantage to still having a land line.
Yesterday, it rained for most of the morning in NYC. Then there were snow flurries, but it was too mild for anything to stick - even on grassy areas. I can't say I'm not happy about that - I don't like snow.
I made myself a snowball, As perfect as can be, I thought I'd keep it as a pet, And let it sleep with me. I made it some pajamas, And a pillow for its head, Then last night it ran away. But first-- it wet the bed. Author Unknown
