Can you imagine what will happen if Trump is arrested on Tuesday?

I have been thinking about what will happen if they try to arrest Trump on Tuesday. Right now I figure law enforcement will show up at Mar-a-Loga  with a legal arrest warrant for Donald J. Trump. And everybody at Mar-a-Loga will pretend that they don't know were he is. So law enforcement will do a premises search for him. And they will find him in his office holding a pair of scissors and a classified document. And in a El Capone type of voice he will be shouting - stand back or the document gets it. Cheers and happy weekend!

He will deny that he is himself ("never knew the guy").

I can see him pretending not to be himself. But I can't see him saying he didn't know the guy because  it would be a missed opportunity to flatter himself. I think he would say - I'm not Trump but I knew the guy. Great big guy. Real tuff guy - a real patriot. Once he came up to me and with tears in his eyes he said - sir I love my country and only I can save it.  Then he would blow it by going on a rant about the stolen election and Hunter Biden's lap top. Cheers and happy weekend!

A couple of hours after Trump said he will be arrested on Tuesday he sent a fundraising email to supporters. A few hours after that he raised the prospect of civil unrest: "IT'S TIME!!!"  "WE JUST CAN'T ALLOW THIS ANYMORE. THEY'RE KILLING OUR NATION AS WE SIT BACK & WATCH. WE MUST SAVE AMERICA! PROTEST, PROTEST, PROTEST!!!" Cheers and happy weekend!

Trump is the one who leaked this news to the media, just as he was the one who leaked the search of Mar-a-Lago. Everything is a grift to him. This post was edited by Jane S at March 18, 2023 5:03 PM MDT

I don't think he knows that they are going to arrest him on Tuesday. I think he is just throwing red meat to his mob to get them in a fighting mood. I think if they were going to arrest him they probably wouldn't let him know in advance. Cheers and happy weekend!

It's hard to know what's true with him. But as far as his arrest, I expect they will have Trump turn himself in at a prearranged time. This is normal for white collar crimes. So, you won't get to see him in handcuffs in the back of a squad car. Then after he is booked, he will be released until the trial. This could have been handled discreetly, but that's not Trump's style.

But this a Trump case, they will not follow normal procedures. They will want to make a big scene and come in guns ablazing. With media camera at the ready. (We have seen this show before)

Showing again that there are 2 sets of rules/laws in this country now.

Seems like it is Trump that wants to make a big scene about it. There probably was private prearranged time for him to turn himself in but he calls the media and makes it sound like they will be coming to arrest him on Tuesday with guns ablazing. Cheers!

If it was already a prearranged time, then the NY DA would be saying that publicly.
But as of now they are saying the Grand Jury has not voted yet.

You hope. The FBI search of Mar-a-Lago was done quietly, no uniforms or early morning surprises. Not normal procedure and Trump was the one who ran to the media to get himself in the news. The media will be at his arrest because Trump wants them there. If there weren't two sets of rules, Trump would have been charged long ago. And chances are, these charges won't stick either because of who he is. Trump likes to play the victim and it makes you happy to let him.

Marlago was a Federal search. The NY investigation is a STATE issue. NY officers have NO jurisdiction outside of NY. And FL does not extradite for misdemeanors. Which is what the Stormy Daniel's case would be.

Do you know for a fact that Trump paying off Stormy Daniels with campaign funds is really only a misdemeanor?

Edit:  "Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has signaled he is preparing to seek felony charges against Trump; Bragg is expected to accuse him of concealing a $130,000 hush-money payment that Michael D. Cohen, Trump’s lawyer and fixer, made to Daniels on the eve of the 2016 presidential election.  A conviction would be likely to hinge on prosecutors’ proving that Trump reimbursed Cohen and falsified business records when he did so, possibly to hide an election law violation."

So, if this is true, the case is not a misdemeanor, it would be a felony. This post was edited by Spunky at March 19, 2023 7:36 PM MDT

Campaign finance is not state law....andthe NY DA's is trying to twist the laws to make them apply to a state law. There is a reason the Fed prosecutors did not charge...it is a weak case. Penalty for a campaign finance rule is a FINE.

In NY, falsifying business records this is a misdemeanor. Trump already won the case with Stormy....she had to pay him.

Stormy Daniels sued Trump for defamation and lost. This has no bearing on any alleged financial crimes.

It is not a crime to pay someone to shut up.

It was not campaign money. The lawyer paid her and Trump repaid the lawyer.

It is sleazy crap, but not a crime.

I did not comment on what is or isn't a crime. Unlike you, I am not a legal expert.  But your comment about Stormy Daniels seemed to imply that her losing an unrelated case strengthened Trump's defense. I pointed out that it doesn't.  That's all.

The election finance "crime" was already been ruled by the Federal prosecutor as not able to make a case provable. This is what NY is claiming to up the misdemeanor to a felony.

Shouldn't a DA have to prove the crime in order to increase the supposed business records misdemeanor to a felony?

But in any case, this with not stand up in court. But may give DeSantis enough cover to allow an extradition.

My point, which you seemed to have missed, was that Trump created a media circus even when it didn't have to be that way. It had nothing to do with jurisdiction, but thanks for assuming that I don't know the difference between state and federal. Also, FYI, NY will be the state deciding on extradition, not FL. No state can provide asylum if the arresting state requests extradition regardless of the crime. This post was edited by Jane S at March 20, 2023 9:39 AM MDT

There are 3 states which do not enforce extradition for non felony charges. FL happens to be one of the 3.
As I said, NY claiming is as a felony for a crime that the Fed have said is not convictable, should not be allowed to be used to increase the misdemeanor to a felony. But it will give DeSantis cover.

That means they do not enforce extradition TO their state FROM another state. The Constitution says that a state has to comply with a legal request for extradition TO another state.

Depends on how and where they do it.

Properly would be as Jane S said make an agreed time for Trump to surrender himself.

If they go in NY, they can go in guns blazing and media cameras rolling.
If they want to go to Maralago, they will need Gov. DeSantis permission to go in. (This would be suicide for DeSantis career if he signed this)

If Trump's lawyer is telling the truth, normal procedure will be followed and Trump will surrender himself.
