    I think you'd be safe with me as a kid -- I liked everything I ever found in my Basket. I liked the whole whole aura of that aspect of fun with that portion of the holiday.

    The majority of baby animals given as Easter gifts aren't treasured as lifelong pets. Unless the parents are committed to the love and care of a pet for its entire life, they shouldn't give them to their children. (In my opinion, of course).

    Many of our pets were recieved for a holiday. We got a long haired Doxie for Valentines day...(we named her Lovely) we had her for 12yrs. We got a cat for Resurrection Day...we named her Peep. Before that we got a dog for Christmas, we got my son ferrets for Christmas, my other son got a gecko for his birthday. We have 
    gotten and given tortoises for Christmas and birthdays....

    It is not a matter of when you get a pet...it is as you set the commitment that a person should apply to having a pet
