If the Lord decides to take me home next week during surgery I want someone to know;

I love you very much and miss you every day.  Sorry things didn't work out for us. You are always on my mind.  I wonder how you are doing and hope you are taking care of yourself and are happy.

    Honey Dew, my thoughts will be with you this week. I hope you'll check in as soon as you get home. I had some major surgery last week (the 19th). I was so nervous, but here I am today. May God bless you and send you home safely!

    That’s quite the romanticized idea of how death works. But having said that, our thoughts are with you.

    Why do you say romanticized?  The surgery was great, little post op pain.  The only issue was the steroids they gave me..omg they made me crazy, never will I take those again.  Overall I have to say it was the best surgery I've ever had, except for the steriods, I feel great.

    The whole idea of ”the Lord” taking you home as opposed to nature taking its course. Strikes me as a religious invention to make death seem less cold and scary.

    On the contrary, death to me is not cold nor scary.  Death awaits us all, I know where I'm going and look forward to trading this aging and broken down body for a new one.  I have watched many videos  on Utube of those who have died for a little bit then were brought back.  Their experiences are compelling.

    But you haven't accepted the reality that our bodies are cremated or buried and decay to nothing, and we don't get replacements.

    How exactly do you know that....you don't.

    It’s just common sense, and nobody has returned to tell us otherwise.

    Many people have been declared dead and had near death experiences, who have indeed  "came back" to tell us about it.

    We get a new type of body that will last for eternity, in the spiritual realm.

    Sounds like a crock to me, but you are entitled to your belief.

    Nobody’s arguing that our bodies don’t get cremated or buried and decay to nothing when we die.  The argument is over if humans have a self-aware spiritual component that continues to exist in some form after death.

    People’s experiences with NDEs seem to point to a self-aware spiritual component unless there’s another adequate explanation for those experiences.

    I wonder, what exactly does a person who doesn’t believe that humans have a spiritual component get out of convincing someone who does believe that humans have souls or spirits that they really don’t have souls or spirits?

    If they’re dead and there’s no self-aware spirit form that continues, they’re not going to be thinking “Gosh darn it, Stu was right.  I should’ve listened to him.  What an idiot I was for believing that people had souls.”

    Hang in there Honey Dew. Some people will never believe. I'm one of those people that has had a "near death experience". At the time, I was not very plugged into religion. It was a very hopeful experience. This post was edited by NYAD at May 29, 2023 5:02 PM MDT

    There is a really pretty song called Life In The Bloodstream by the Guess Who. It is about how when we die our energy moves on to a new person. Hope the surgery goes well. Cheers!

    That is a new thought for me.  I'll have to explore that idea further, Thanks.
