If you were a landscaper by profession, would you mind sometimes being referred to as a gardener, or would it offend you?

I thought that, too.  :)

 

  I had not even considered Nanoose and this being his profession when I thought of this question.

What I found mildly offensive was the term "assistant" substituted for "secretary."  I was a secretary from 1963 until January 2023.  I didn't need a fancy title.  The firm I last worked for began referring to us as Client Service Specialists - one of the most ridiculous titles.  When people would ask what that was, I told them I was a secretary.  

A rose by any other name...

I was offended because it implied that being just a secretary wasn't as important as an assistant.
