Overcast sky -- Again I'm saying it -- I will NEVER understand why this kind of sky receives such derogatory hate

Since a two-years-old young boy (ask my immediate family), this is MY kind of sky.Gray Overcast Sky - Free High Resolution Photo | Sky textures, Texture images, Grey

I got you. The autumn colours look great in contrast to blue, grey, or anything else.

    Thanks Danilo_G.
    :)

I'll take gray clouds all year round, too. Beautiful to me always.

I didn't min gray/overcast skies once in a while, but a couple of weeks ago, the sun didn't shine for three or four days in a row and at that point, it seemed pretty gloomy.

:) Yes, I get your point and can relate in an opposite way -- ever since I can remember in my life, if the sun is out from sun up to sun down, for three or four days in a row, I find myself feeling gloomy at the overbearing (to me) sun - - and I start thinking, " O - KAAAY, Mister Sun -- I get the point! You're up there! Can you leave for while?"

And, yes, since a young boy, I've always noted the world's disagreement with my weather thoughts. And, believe it or not, I am fine with that -- I know my thoughts are okay. They are mine and there is nothing wrong with my weather preference.  :)

Everyone is entitled to like/dislike whatever they wish without criticism.  That's why they make chocolate and vanilla ice cream. :)

Yes, true. :)  I've never had a problem with myself for my liking gray clouds in the sky.

But, I've never yet heard a meteorologist ever say, "Hang in there folks! Only a few more days of sunny, blue sky weather and then the beautiful overcast, cloudy days will be back!!"

And I never heard that little Annie-girl sing " The sun will go down, Tomorrow, bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow - -- they'll be clouds."

And, I know I'm overstating my case, but ever since a young boy when I heard the following Aesop fable, I had a major problem with it. I thought then, and still think now, "Hey, the wind was just being himself. That doesn't make the sun more powerful, Mr. Aesop. Because the sun was just being himself, too. The sun was being just as blusterful to me. Where's the fable to ask, 'Let's see who can make this man pull on his coat tighter' ? I bet the wind would win."
Yup, I even over thought things as a kid, ha.

    :)

The wind and the sun bet on which can force a man to remove a coat. The sun wins.

    Kindness effects more than severity.

    Aesop For Children

    North WindMilo Winter (1919)

The North Wind and the Sun had a quarrel about which of them was the stronger. While they were disputing with much heat and bluster, a Traveler passed along the road wrapped in a cloak.

“Let us agree,” said the Sun, “that he is the stronger who can strip that Traveler of his cloak.”

“Very well,” growled the North Wind, and at once sent a cold, howling blast against the Traveler.

    SunMilo Winter (1919)

With the first gust of wind the ends of the cloak whipped about the Traveler’s body. But he immediately wrapped it closely around him, and the harder the Wind blew, the tighter he held it to him. The North Wind tore angrily at the cloak, but all his efforts were in vain.

Then the Sun began to shine. At first his beams were gentle, and in the pleasant warmth after the bitter cold of the North Wind, the Traveler unfastened his cloak and let it hang loosely from his shoulders. The Sun’s rays grew warmer and warmer. The man took off his cap and mopped his brow. At last he became so heated that he pulled off his cloak, and, to escape the blazing sunshine, threw himself down in the welcome shade of a tree by the roadside.

    Moral

Gentleness and kind persuasion win where force and bluster fail.
