Was Mike Johnson talking about an Old Testament or New Testament Bible?

When the new House speaker Mike Johnson was asked how he would make public policy he replied “Well, go pick up a Bible off your shelf and read it - that's my worldview”. God seemed a little bit harsh in the old testament - smite your enemies and stuff like that. So I hope Mike is talking about a new testament Bible. Cheers!

"Thou shalt obey the freeway speed-linits. "

"Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's brand-new Tesla."

    Oh, sorry, "neighbor's". Different country.

He was talking about the Old Testament.  I think he wants to legalize recreational pot.  It’s in the Old Testament!  People got stoned all the time back then.

The Bible isn't even internally consistent. It's not a science textbook or a history and people who abuse it in that fashion have no idea what it is actually for.

There is only one Christian Bible.   The Old and New Testaments are part of the same Bible.

Vengeance is mine says the Lord. So Johnson will not be smiting anyone.
