That’s redundant. Flamingos are all pink.

And a group of them is called a flamboyance.

I love that term -- flamboyance.

Flamingos seem to be born grey. The colour gets more vibrant as they feed on certain algae and crustaceans (shrimp, primarily) that thrive in these salty, alkaline waters. In a way, the intensity of their pink colouring tends to be a reflection of their health (and that of their habitat).

Flamingos are pink because of what they eat. If they do not have access to their normal diet, they are white.

You sell them, to who, I hope it's not to your local restaurant.

That doesn't even resemble a flamingo but it's interesting anyway.

To be fair, if it didn't resemble one at all... How did we make the same connection?

    Power of suggestion.
The shape the birds are forming is more like a long legged duck.

I like them, but I prefer roseate spoonbills.

Wow! You actually get these in Texas, Florida, and Louisiana?

You led me to read this about the platypus: "The unusual appearance of this egg-laying, duck-billed, beaver-tailed, otter-footed mammal at first baffled European naturalists. In 1799, the first scientists to examine a preserved platypus body judged it a fake, made of several animals sewn together."

Au contraire. I've encountered a platypus in the wild. Just one.

    I was joking, of course.

You're so lucky to have encountered one! Super cool.
