Should foreign nationals who get a degree from a US college or university automatically receive a green card?

Why even educate them, right? 

More seriously, can't they contribute, when they're already well-adapted graduates who like it there? I'm not saying it should be that easy to get a green card--but, to be fair, it isn't.

I was really surprised when Trump said he would implement that policy on day one. I have a feeling that he will reconsider.

Including "Mexican rapists" and people from "sh*thole countries"? (Before this gets moderated, I'm quoting him directly).

There is a reason all migrant females past puberty are told to get on birth control before making the trip to the US border....."someone is doing the raping."

Trump stated that they all were. He actually said that.
By that logic, as Jeffrey Dahmer was American, all Americans are cannibalistic serial killers.

Agreed. Even though Trump said he would do it, I think he may not have thought it through. 

Not thinking things through seems to be Trump's usual modus operandi.  Rather than green carding foreign nationals due to lack of skilled American workers, perhaps he should consider making it easier for those here legally to obtain an education in those skilled areas without going into hock for the rest of their lives.

All those Americans who go into debt for the education, will have to compete for jobs with grads from countries where the pay is lower and who will accept lower salaries. 

And this is why we want a secure border it drives down wages for everyone....

Immigration also drives up demand for goods and services and the need for a larger workforce to produce them. They add to the tax rolls and pay into Social Security. A shortage of workers in jobs like lettuce picking or chicken processing may increase wages, but it also increases the cost of food and other goods and services, which drives up inflation. It's a balance. I am not against a secure border, but I think it's equally important to be more efficient in processing those who apply for asylum, so they can legally work here. 

The only reason for a shortage in workers is  because we have allowed illegal aliens into the country for decades forcing the wages for down.   And requiring E verify for ALL jobs then jailing both employers and illegal workers.  

Most who apply for asylum do not qualify...they are not endanger,  they simply want the US $.

Agreed.  However there is always a need for workers who will do the jobs that most Americans won't do.  No one with a good education wants to work in the fields or pluck chicken feathers.  I am not disparaging those workers - all work is commendable - but to think that if we eliminate most immigration, those jobs will pay more for Americans is ridiculous.

They certainly not going to pay more if the illegal is there to did it for less.   

If the migrants stop doing those jobs, there will be widespread starvation.  No Harvard grad is going to be picking strawberries.

So, no change then.
