Why would a political party allow someone on their ticket who is a convicted felon?

Why would a political party allow someone on their ticket who calls fallen soldiers sukers and losers?

    Lawfare.
But since we are splitting hairs on what people are called...(served as vs retired as)  No is a convicted felon until the judge issues the sentence.

Walz claims to have combat service, but did not serve in the war.
Also lies about the rank he retired with.  This post was edited by my2cents at August 10, 2024 7:17 AM MDT

Fair enough.  Too bad his 23 years of service in the National Guard doesn't seem to be sufficient for some Republicans.  Especially since their fearless leader got five deferments from serving in Vietnam due to made up bone spurs that miraculously disappeared.

No one is saying or demeaning his NG service.

Walz is the one lying about his service.  Claiming combat service he did not have.  Claiming to have retired as one rank that he did not.  Yes he was given that rank BUT it was conditional...he did not fulfill those conditions and was demoted to Master Sergent.  The NG told him that his retired rank is Master Sergent.  He has lied for at least 18 yrs about his service record.  This is stolen valor and is in fact illegal.

This is also how he referred to the NG as Gov in 2020: "I don’t think the mayor knew what he was asking for," Walz said in August 2020. "I think the mayor said, 'I request the National Guard, whew, this is great. We’re going to have massively trained troops.' No. You’re going to have 19-year-olds who are cooks."

Biden recieved the same deferments.  For his asthma...that magically appeared and later disappeared.

Trump does not falsely claim to have went to war....Walz does. And Vance did go to war. This post was edited by my2cents at August 10, 2024 9:10 AM MDT

Biden went to his induction physical expecting to serve. He was rejected. Trump went to his with a note from a doctor. Bone spurs would not be detected in an induction physical, it needed a diagnosis from a private doctor. Trump himself said he was deferred because he brought a letter from a doctor.

Yes, Republicans ARE demeaning his NG service.  Your comparison of Biden's asthma to Trump's non-existent bone spurs is ridiculous, but there's no point in arguing with you because no matter what anyone says, you have your opinion, whether it's based on facts or not, and nothing will move you from it. No, they are demeaning his lies about his service. He lied or at minimum "mispoke."  Even the Harris/Walz campaign has admitted that much.

Then during the 2020 riots after he allowed cities to burn for days,  he demeaned the NG members saying they are not "trained troops" instead calling the "19-yr old cooks."

    Not arguing about Trump/Biden deferments....detractions.

The opposition found a single video where Walz was talking about military-style weapons and  was making a point that they should only be in the military. He, used the phrase, 'weapons of war, that I carried in war'. The campaign says he misspoke,  but whether he misspoke or whether he exaggerated for effect, it is one single instance, not a persistent misrepresentation of his record. Maybe if we look hard enough, we an find where a Republican misspoke or exaggerated about something.

Walz reached the rank of Command Sergeant Major and served at that rank for a time. However, he did not complete all the coursework requirements prior to retirement, so he retired as Sergeant Major. So, it is correct to say that he served as Command Sergeant Major, but incorrect to say, he is a retired Command Sergeant Major. It's a small, but subtle difference. Unlike, say, a certain Congressman and former White House doctor, who continues to call himself Admiral, after having been demoted to Captain for misconduct.

As far as I'm concerned, his 24 years in the National Guard and deployment to Italy at the beginning of Operation Iraqi Freedom satisfies my definition of public service and I agree that the distinction in military rank is because of his not completing the course work.  Frankly, Ronny What's-His-Name shouldn't even be called " Doctor" after saying Trump was the picture of health.

There is more than a single video. There is an interview on CSPAN.  There are pictures of him at a protest holding a sign claiming to be an combat vet as well.   There is probably more....Walz has been telling this lie for 18+ yrs....there is certainly more.

I live in MO...of course I will show you. :)

Operation Enduring Freedom was a combat operation in Iraq.   WALZ wad not part of it...but he certainly was holding that protest sign as if he was.  Picture is  from the Bush/Kerry election.

I'll let others watch this and see if they hear or see anything that can be inferred as saying he was in combat. Or that the sign he carried in the photo says anything about combat veteran. He was part of Operation Enduring Freedom and stated clearly that his role was to provide support and to provide base security.

We were NOT at war with Italy...that is where the base was that Walz was at.

Ventura....this is a guy who claims there are lizard people...

I seriously don't have the time or interest in explaining to you why we were in Italy and why it was part of Operation Enduring Freedom. You don't care.

As for Jesse, yes, he is a nut job, and I am no fan of him. But, what he is saying is the same rhetoric that we are hearing from other veterans and active military. So, keep it up. It's a losing strategy and good for the Harris-Walz ticket.

Italy was NOT a war zone. It is like Vietnam Era vets who were sent to Hawaii claiming to be a Vietnam vet....stolen valor.

Dude served in the National Guard and retired ten months before his unit was deployed. He did serve. Would have participated in military exercises and carried a weapon, that's mandatory.

He reelected in Sept 2001 for 6 yrs.  He retired in MAY 2005...he did not even finish his 4 yrs of active servive.of his 6 yrs enlistment.
In Mar 2005 his battalion was told they were being mobilized for deployment in the next 2 yrs.  He retired MAY 2005.  Leaving his battalion without their leadership while they went into to training for deployment.  Demoted in Sept 2005.  They deployed to Iraq in spring of 2006.

Good for him for serving for 23+yrs but it is a shame who he left.

If they needed him to stay, they would have blocked his retirement. Watch the video, I posed below where another National Guard vet explains how it works. Or, will you just say Kinzinger's a RINO, so he can't be believed? I believe he is way more of an expert than you and your Twitter sources. He spent 20 years in the guard, how long did you serve?
