Shouldn't a POTUS nominee be willing to sit down and do a actual interview with the media?

Of course,  but the timing should up to the candidate according to his/her campaign strategy. Someone who declared candidacy two years ago may be working on a different timeline than one who got in the race three weeks ago.

Harris said she may get around to it by the end of the month.

Vance was nominated a few weeks ago and he has taken several interviews from MSM.

Harris can take an interview any time she wants any organization would jump at the chance to do that interview.

She is not good with details of explaining her at this point non existent policies.  That is what knocked her out of the 2020 primary. This post was edited by my2cents at August 12, 2024 12:25 PM MDT

Well, that's your take on it anyway. Maybe seeing how Vance's interviews are going, she doesn't want to take the focus off him. This post was edited by Jane S at August 12, 2024 1:29 PM MDT

    Vance's interviews are going great.

She has been VP for years, she should be ready for primetime.   Or at least ready to face a media that is going to give her softball questions.

Are you saying that Harris is being a good sport by letting Vance be in the spotlight for a little while? Or are you saying that Harris is letting Vance be in the spotlight because the things he says in interviews hurt Trump's and his campaign? Cheers!

I think you know the answer to that. :)  Trump's been doing some great interviews and press conferences as well.

I do know the answer to that – I was just being silly and giddy. I have been watching Trump/Vance interviews/rallies and I have been watching Harris/Waltz interviews/rallies – one of them are gloomy and boring the other is joyful and exciting. And I think the American people are going to start tuning in to the joyful and exciting and tune out the gloomy and boring. Cheers!

Rallies, as neither Harris nor Walz have done an interview at this point. This post was edited by my2cents at August 14, 2024 3:20 PM MDT

I agree it's uplifting  to watch speeches that present a positive future instead of painting a picture of the US on the verge of economic collapse and WWIII. I'm sure there are those who are salivating at the thought of being able to use interviews to get soundbites to use against the candidates. I'm fine with them waiting until their policy is firmed up before sitting down to talk  about it. It's been an extraordinarily short timeline for Harris, and an extraordinarily long one for Trump. The job of the VP is to support the president and her own policies and agenda may not mirror Biden's. She'll be called out on that for sure and will need present that in a well-thought out way.

Yeah with Harris and Waltz America’s future will be so bright they will have to put their sunglasses on. Harris couldn’t of picked a better VP. I like how Waltz does a little leg kick thing when he is on stage – it’s like a rock star move but in a suit. Cheers!

He also has a serious side. I just watched his speech to AFSME - very inspiring. He also had something to say about JD Vance's military service. He said 'thank you for your service and sacrifice '.

They should be willing to sit down and do an actual interview with the media. And I bet after Harris does sit down to do an interview with the media Trump and the MAGA’s will be wishing she never did because her poll numbers will jump up 10 – 20 points. Cheers!

So far, she says maybe by the end of the month....

I don't see a 10-20 pt jump from any one thing.

She's kicking her campaign into gear first. Unlike His Royal Orangeness who as POTUS actually cancelled all Press conferences after one went rather badly.

Trump spoke to the press almost daily for his entire Presidentcy.

She has been VP for 3 1/2 yrs she should be ready to go, familiar with all the current issues etc.
