Why is that, I inquire? I took you for someone who blushes easily.  This post was edited by Art Lover at August 21, 2024 8:24 AM MDT

I don’t know why it seems I would blush easily.

Under the circumstances that I can get the cash from you, change my name, and relocate far away before the landlord finds out.

But officers, just like I’ve been telling you for the past two and a half hours, Shuhak seemed to be on the level, he showed me all the right paperwork, everything had his name all over it, and his signature checked out too. There must be some kind of mistake, but an easily explained one; Shuhak and I are pals, he would never do me wrong . . . hey, wait a second! Why did he insist on cash only? Why did he want me to meet him at the airport with the money? Why did I see a passport among his things? Why, why, why? How could you do this to me, Shuhak??? Grrrrrrr.

My childhood home in Brooklyn, a landmark townhouse built in 1849, is for sale.

We’ve received a cash offer of $7.5 million. Match that and it’s yours.

Kamala wants to tax that now as unrealized gains at 25%.  And the realized gains at 44%.

But the building was devised to a LLC in 2018, so the tax basis is stepped up from the $56,000 my late parents paid in 1963 to the 2018 fair market value and will be adjusted to include amounts paid since for renovations and repairs, so there will only be a negligible capital gain.

And none of that will apply to a 2024 sale anyway.

It’s good to have an accountant in the family.

Not a good thing, and I doubt it would pass.

I agree not a good thing even as an "rich people" tax.
