Where will Oklahoma find 55,000 bibles to put in classrooms that meet their specifications?

The bibles must be King James Version, bound in leather or a leather-like material, contain the old and new testament, as well as the Pledge of Allegiance,  the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence.

The KJV is actually a very poor translation. The KJV scholars brought their 17th century prejudices to the task of translation and didn't have access to the best manuscripts - those being in the hands of the Ottoman Turks who were feeling less than charitable towards infidels after repulsing a dozen Crusades.
The New Revised Standard Version is much better - it references the Qumran (Dead Sea) scrolls which had not been discovered when the KJV was written, and provides honest footnotes if the exact meaning is unclear or uncertain.

Yes, but I don't think that is what the school superintendent is concerned with.

It's also written in a "language" we no longer speak.

Trump is having them run off in China as we speak and will sell them to the OK board of education for the paltry sum of $100 each.

Well maybe because Donald J Trump loves God and his Country he will anomalously donate then to the school board. And on that day a monkey will fly out of my butt.

I figure the required specifications will limit places were they can get the bibles and also bring up the cost of each bible. I also figure that cost and quality is not a  concern for the school superintendent – he or she or they are more interested in getting a kick back. Cheers!

So far only two bibles meet their criteria. Both are endorsed by Donold Trump. Nothing suspicious about that.

I didn’t do the math but I figure the bibles will cost an extra $6 each for Trump’s cut. The Trump endorsed bibles are said to be high cost and poorly made. So I think the school board should rethink the whole thing and leave Trump out of the equation. Cheers!

I think the whole point was to make sure Trump got the business.

Probably. So maybe next the school superintendent will set a criteria that all school sports teams (including swim teams) wear Trump brand sneakers. Cheers!

It's comforting to know that the epitome of Christianity has endorsed two versions of the bible.  I wonder which of them he brings with him when he attends Church. This post was edited by Spunky at October 10, 2024 5:40 PM MDT

I admit I question his motives.

A Bible is still valid without all the specific-only-to-The-United States of America entries included in the versions he endorses.

I am sure there will be many Bible publishers who will try to get the contract for such a large order.

KJV is not copyright restricted and I do not think that the The Pledge, Constitution or the Bill of Rights are either.

I apologize for being to subtle. This was actually a question about political corruption on the part of the superintendent.  Thanks for your response.

Nothing wrong with having requirements for any public purchase as long as they take bids on the public contracts fairly.

Yes, that is why I linked the article. I didn't think it was fair, so we disagree.

Any publisher of books can publish the KJV Bible with the copies of the government papers as well. So no they are not excluded.

Now IF the lyrics to Lee Greenwood's song "God Bless the USA" then it would be limited to just one Bible.  Lee Greenwood's Bible (which yes, is endorsed by Trump)
