What unbelievable things do you think we will see during Trump’s second term?

Right now Russia’s economy is in the toilet. And I think Trump will start posting doctored photos of starving Russian kids and send Russia an aid package. - and say it will build relations. Course there will be no money for the starving kids in the Ukraine. I also think despite Trump's sour grapes efforts to cripple the Ukraine – Ukraine will win the war and that will cut Trump like a knife. Cheers!

Trump is going to drive oil prices down....that will not help Russia.

These bills getting passed are unbelievable to me. And yes I support them all.

    (1) The bill (H.R. ) to amend the Education Amendments of 1972 to provide that for purposes of determining compliance with title IX of such Act in athletics, sex shall be recognized based solely on a person’s reproductive biology and genetics at birth.

    (2) The bill (H.R. ) to require the Secretary of Homeland Security to take into custody aliens who have been charged in the United States with theft, and for other purposes.

    (3) The bill (H.R. ) to amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to provide that aliens who have been convicted of or who have committed sex offenses or domestic violence are inadmissible and deportable.

    (4) The bill (H.R. ) to make the assault of a law enforcement officer a deportable offense, and for other purposes.

    (5) The bill (H.R. ) to provide that sanctuary jurisdictions that provide benefits to aliens who are present in the United States without lawful status under the immigration laws are ineligible for Federal funds intended to benefit such aliens.

    (6) The bill (H.R. ) to impose criminal and immigration penalties for intentionally fleeing a pursuing Federal officer while operating a motor vehicle.

    (7) The bill (H.R. ) to amend title 18, United States Code, to prohibit a health care practitioner from failing to exercise the proper degree of care in the case of a child who survives an abortion or attempted abortion.

    (8) The bill (H.R. ) to impose sanctions with respect to the International Criminal Court engaged in any effort to investigate, arrest, detain, or prosecute any protected person of the United States and its allies.

    (9) The bill (H.R. ) to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to provide special rules for the taxation of certain residents of Taiwan with income from sources within the United States.

    (10) The bill (H.R. ) to amend the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 to require proof of United States citizenship to register an individual to vote in elections for Federal office, and for other purposes.

    (11) The bill (H.R. ) to amend the Controlled Substances Act with respect to the scheduling of fentanyl-related substances, and for other purposes.

    (12) The bill (H.R. ) to prohibit a moratorium on the use of hydraulic fracturing.

I just saw a speech by a member of the Canadian Parliament, ElizabethMay. She invited California, Oregon and Washington State to become the 11th province. That would be special. Here's the whole speech, it's worth listening to.

I say they can have them.
Then we can annex Canada as a territory...not a state.

You might want to learn how much they contribute to the US economy. If California were a country it would have the 5th largest economy in the world.

This is why we annex them back with Canada as a territory.
We still get the economic benefit but lose the statehood.

As long as we are listing things that are not going to happen, might as well go all the way.

That's not the way territories work. They run their own economy and don't pay federal income taxes. But that's a whole other topic - don't let it get in the way of your imaginary scenario.

Yes and I assumed that's why you wanted to get rid of the blue states and I was pointing out the drawbacks.

Get rid of the blue states and the red states might starve to death.  The red states are the welfare states.

California only produces 40% of the US agricultural products. We're fine.

I was being sarcastic. 40% is a lot.

How long do you think the farmers in the red states will be able to farm without the subsidies provided by the blue states.

If Trump gives fracking carte blanche, the farmers will be forced off the land. No water for irrigation.

I actually think if we properly secured the votes (ID, citizenship  etc) Many of the "blue" states are truly red or at the very least purple.

You tried that in 1812. Do I need to remind you how that turned out?

So, are you proposing the USA go back to being an imperialistic nation again by annexing other countries?

No, I was simply following up with the Canadian politician saying they would annex CA, WA and OR.   With something that would be equally absurd.

I do not want Canada as part of the US at all and certainly do not want them voting in our elections.

I do not get what Trump's angle is on Canada as a 51st state and do not support it at all. It is not gonna happen so it doesn't really matter to me.

You might want to actually watch the speech to find out the context of her remarks. It was not a serious suggestion, but rather a way of explaining the advantages of Canada and why they have no desire to be part of the US. I also believe Trump is more or less doing the same in talking about the 51st state. This post was edited by Jane S at January 7, 2025 11:43 AM MST

Where did I suggest she was serious?
I do not believe Trump is serious about Canada as the 51st state, either.  He is using it for a purpose. Likely, for trade/tariff negotiations  etc.

He's using it to obfuscate the fact that he won't be able to make good on most of his campaign promises.  It's a diversionary tactic to get the focus of the ignorant people who voted for him away from kitchen table issues like the cost of groceries and gas prices.  Smoke and mirrors.

Considering Trump's and Musk's push for freedom of speech, we might witness more consistent moderation on internet forums.
