he's only doing this to get attention. There is no real savings in laying off all those people. It'll only serve to further tank the economy. Remember, trump IS the rich - and he'll never tax himself. In fact, he's trying to doge paying anything by being an acting president. (and I pray that all the crap he's doing backfires on him!)
It seems true that no air traffic controllers were fired, so thank you for that, but it still misses the point about taxation. I also fail to see the connection between park workers and a bloated bureaucracy...
That's true—if you have more than you need, you don't need them—but it hinges on a pretty big "if." One that many people seem to want to believe (or not believe) based only on whom it's coming from. And it still misses Element's original question, which I think remains pertinent to ask.
As for parks, I've seen for myself how beautiful they can be in different parts of the U.S., and how valued, for a long time, by many different administrations regardless of politics. Even so, it's a shame to think anyone would find them too well-kept.
As far as taxing billionaires, we could tax them 100% and it will not cover the spending. We have to address the waste and fraud, taxing billionaires is not enough.
Although I'm not sure how those numbers add up, I do wish it were possible to address both waste and taxation as if they weren't mutually exclusive, but actually connected issues. Especially for a party that prides itself on going against the establishment, for the sake of regular people.
The "waste and fraud" is worth less than one fiftieth of the amount of debt that the proposed tax cuts for the already obscenely wealthy will add. Why isn't Elon addressing that WASTE? Oh, that's right, he's lining his pockets with it.
EVERYBODY got a tax cut. I know I did. I am no where close to 1%er. I do pay taxes so I guess I am in the top 50%. Though that does not mean much once your kids are grown. If it is such a trivial amount, why are some many of the left have such heart attacks over stopping it? Personally, I consider stopping Billions of waste and fraud a needed action. It used to be a common belief of both sides.
Thank you I was aware that not everyone got the same tax cut. In fact, I paid more that year than I ever did before. My effective tax rate is 22-23% and my Social Security is taxed at 85% over the allowed amount. I seriously doubt that can be said by any of the billionaires.
You paid more because you did not have the income tax hold out on RMDs.
I guarantee any billionaire receiving SS benefits is being taxed at the 85% of their benefit. (1B is certainly than $34,000)

How disingenuous. You know very well I'm not talking about their tax rate on any SS they may be getting. You can't tell me that these billionaires are paying the same regular income tax rate I am.
The only way to make taxes "fair" and take the game out of them. It to implement a flat tax.
Personally, I prefer the Fair Tax. No income tax at all, just a national sales tax with a basic allowance given to each person to offset the tax on personal necessities.
Brings everybody to the tax table. No more illegal workers getting paid under the table. Tourists would last pay etc.
Stopping waste and abuse is something both sides can agree on. Where yhe disagreement comes in is over who should be doing it and how it should be done.
The tax cut the billionaires got was probably at least half of your annual income - and they pay too little tax already. A little tax cut for the lower and middle classes stimulates the economy, they spend it. The rich don't, they invest in stock buybacks or squirrel it away in the Caymans. Your tax cut will slightly offset what you'll be paying extra for everything that now has a tariff on it. $4000 more per annum. You think inflation was bad under Biden? You ain't seen NOTHING yet.
No prices have increased here. (Other than eggs, I have chickens, so oh well) In fact my husband's coffee decreased by $1.88. Gas is down 10cents here.
