THE ANSWERMUG CHALLENGE SERIES - Most annoying song of all time?

The nominees are:

(If Harold Faltermeyer was dead, he'd be spinning in his grave)

(If you've ever been Rickrolled, you'll vote for this one)

(Kids use this one to justify being spanked)

(Pure 80s cheese)

(I still can't decide whether this song or siring Miley was the bigger crime)

(There's a special place reserved for you in Hell if you barked)

The entries by Rick Astley and Starship don’t belong on that list; I love those two songs! Grrrrrrrr.

    These following songs, however . . .

Don’t Worry, Be Happy, Bobby McFerrin

I’m Too Sexy (For My Shirt), MaWayy and Right Said Fred

      Break My Stride, Matthew Wilder

I can't speak to the others, but I like Rick Astley and for the life of me, with his voice, I can't understand why he was never a bigger entertainer.

Went down with the rest of the Schlock, Aching and Wateringcan clones. The only SAW performer who was able to break free and have a relatively successful career afterwards is Kylie Minogue, with whom I share a birthday.
I did like his cover of Nat King Cole's When I Fall In Love.

I almost included Bobby McFerrin in the nominees. I quite liked Wilder but I can see how it could be annoying if overplayed. I've forgiven Fred because I've always been close to my sister and she liked that song (I've never known why). This post was edited by Slartibartfast at April 11, 2025 5:05 PM MDT

I'm with you on Astley and Starship.

(And I admit that I like your Three However songs.)

There's ONE version of that song I like - by the Muppets with Spike Milligan.

I admit I don't find any of your nominees particularly annoying. :)  But I like seeing your nominees because I think "annoying" is purely subjective.

And possibly my most annoying song is only annoying to me because, anymore, I only hear Jimmy Cliff's cover of the original "I Can See Clearly Now." Cliff is okay but, to me, he comes NOWHERE close to Nash's beautiful clear singing voice. And Nash's exquisite original version.
I refuse to post Cliff's version.

    Johnny Nash wrote the song

    He sang it first

    He's my man. :)

It's sad that with the outpouring of grief over the death of Eddie Van Halen, the world missed the fact that Johnny passed on the same day.
