Globalization vs Nationalism. I didn't know that was a thing..

Hello:

I LOVE America..  I went to war for her.  I love BEING an American..  But, I wouldn't MIND being a World Citizen.  Would you?   What would I lose other than what I call myself?

"I just don't buy your characterization about "inferior" cultures."

Yeah, and that why the sun is setting on western civilization. You can bet your ass the Muslims think they are superior to you. Cultural / economic competition is human nature and there is nothing we can do about it. We have 2 choices; compete for cultural dominance or lay down and be overrun by strong cultures like Islam.

"It's MY worldview, that if we make war on 1.5 BILLION people, we're gonna lose - BIGLY.."
We've been fighting with them on and off for over a thousand years so I don't see why you're so defeatist. All we have to do is close our borders and we win.

    Hello again, Trumptastic:

"All we have to do is close our borders and we win."

But, what about the millions of Muslims already HERE???  Gotta throw them out, right?  What about those pesky black folk..  They're still gonna be UPPITY.

PS>  You should NOTE that we were able to HAVE this entire discussion, and I didn't put YOU down once..  Can't say the same for you..  This is a thing liberals know how to do.  Maybe it's a gene or something.. This post was edited by excon at November 20, 2016 9:03 AM MST

I'm not trying to be mean to you. I'm not trying to put you down. If I sounded that way, I apologize. I just believe passionately that urgent action is necessary to avert a complete catastrophe. I'm so worried about the future (because of this and other issues) I don't even want to have children because I can't see a future for them. The world just seems so broken.

We can't throw them out without undermining all our values. So we shouldn't let them in. The number of Muslims already in the U.S. is under 5%. At that level you can win the culture war. The first generation will be moderate, the 2nd will be liberal, the 3rd will won't even be Muslim at all.

If the Muslim population even reaches 15% (like we're seeing in France) we're going to have a serious problem suppressing it. If they ever become a majority, we're finished.

Having a conversation with out putting the other person down is something few on either side can do.

I am going to give you a compliment, young lady.  I have never seen you once put anyone down no matter what is flung at you.

I do not agree with your conclusions.   I do not understand your thinking process.  Do NOT.  BUT.

You DO have something that far outshines any of our differences.  You have manners and grace.  I admire that and I am so glad (believe it or not) that you are this way.  It took me a long time to watch you and I did not trust you at all before; because I thought you were trying to just bug me because you could  to stick it to me because you were a MOD.  That is when you wanted to friend me.  So, I apologize for that.  It wasn't because I didn't like you.  It was because I didn't know you.   That side of you that is my exact opposite was all I was introduced to.

I would be honored to be your friend on here if you ever care to.   I know I still have a long way to go on here, but knowing you and JA has made me slightly less harsh.

I KNOW.  I KNOW.  I am horrid.   But remember how much worse I was before?  Maybe you guys helped soften me up a tad.  This post was edited by WM BARR . =ABSOLUTE TRASH at November 20, 2016 3:18 PM MST

How can we have any view about something that has never occurred?    It sounds hideous, I agree, but we are not even close.   Let's concentrate on getting Trump lost before we worry about what our global brothers and sisters are doing.

We cannot even operate one country.    Now we have opinions on what one government globally will mean?   How would you know?  We have no model of it.

In an ideal, John Lennon's "Imagine" kinda world, that would be lovely. Meanwhile, our recent election has illustrated that even a single group, in this case white people, has trouble getting along. And that divisiveness and hatred has not dissipated with the selection of a President. If anything, it's gotten worse. So as far as trying to extrapolate a neighborhood or city being culturally copacetic to a world population of 7.5 billion people, that's gonna be a bit of a stretch.
