Why would Jesus require that? If He asked me to, I would. As it stands I have already joined a congregation to stay near to what I already know to be true.
If he came to my area, I'd make an effort to go to where he was speaking and listen.
It would be interesting to hear how he responds to our world as he finds it now.
It would be great if he could read and write and comment on the gospels and the words of the apostles.
It would be especially interesting to hear what he thinks of all the versions of Christianity,
its history, and the track record of its teachers and institutions.
I'd fly.
To hell.
I know that you're just trying to be malicious and insult the sincere beliefs of others. Perhaps that's out of your own fear and insecurity?
But in answer to your question it's what you feel in your heart and how you live your life that counts, not a church membership card. There's going to be a lot of "good, church-going" people that get left behind come the resurrection. They'll be standing right next to . . . you. If you believe in that kind of thing . . .
No, that´s not the kind of people I enjoy spending time with.
I believe in God and Jesus Christ.
I know what to do if that happens.
Um, Jesus himself was "non-religious." Have we forgotten that Jesus himself was hated by the "religious" leaders of his own time, the very people allegedly teaching his God's commandments nailed him to a tree.
"Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand: Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man. Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying? But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up. Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch." ~Matthew 15:7-14
I'll take my chances with his two commandments.
The Bible says Jesus will come again someday, and the world as we know it will come to an end. There are many ideas and opinions about the end-times, but the Bible gives very few details of exactly what will happen. Most questions do not have a clear answer in the Bible. Instead, the Bible advises us to be spiritually prepared for judgment at any moment and to put our trust in God that He will make everything right in the end.
This article summarizes what the Bible does say about the second coming of Jesus and the events surrounding it.
The Bible presents God's work of redemption as an ongoing process. Throughout the Old Testament, He leads His chosen people toward truth and righteousness. The final phase of the process of redemption began with the first coming of Jesus and will culminate in the events surrounding His Second Coming. There will be a final judgment of all people, living and dead. The faithful will receive new spiritual bodies for eternal life; the wicked will be cast into hell. There will be a final defeat and destruction of all evil -- Satan, sin, suffering and death. The kingdom of God will come to its fulfillment at last.
Jesus left no doubt that He will return again to complete His mission of salvation for mankind:
"Don't be troubled. You trust God, now trust in me. There are many rooms in my Father's home, and I am going to prepare a place for you. If this were not so, I would tell you plainly. When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am." (NLT, John 14:1-4)
