Could endless questions about the same old BS politics be hampering people from wanting to use this site?

Follow up question.   Should people who want top blather about politics ad nauseam try and take it the Debate room?   At least once in awhile?

Do y'all really think you are making any difference speaking your mind when you're just boring people away with the nonstop questions about the same thing over and over again?  What's the point?

Oh, there will be others Thrifty. Do you want to turn it into a question about personal behavior here?

I think in respect to the OP there was something else on their mind than turning it into this. Sighs. This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at December 11, 2016 10:03 AM MST

I think all questions have their spot and not censored as long as they are inside TOS. I suggested back during the primaries that political questions went inside the debate room, isn't that what a debate room is for? It wasn't popular among the other users then, but it would leave more room for other questions without them drowning in the massive presence of the political questions. We are several who have done the 10 questions at a time, like JA suggested but not even that can keep up with the speed of the political questions. It seems more or less like the same group of people are asking and replying on the political questions, and my bet is that they all will follow inside the debate room if they not already are there. Why not take it inside a group like we do with the adultMug? That way we could maybe have a more varied question board where others might feel more motivated to contribute with questions. I must admit that I at times don't post as I know my question soon enough will be drowned in the political questions.

It's worth a thought if not the debate room could be activated more. Well, anyway... I am aware we can just filter those persons who ask the most of the questions and thereby not see them in our new feeds, but they will still appear on the overall question page. Hmm. Political discussions can often turn into dialogues of the deaf.

Everybody is always right, and there is no need to listen to the other side.

Almost all of the websites i go to have a bunch of discussions about US politics but I really couldn't care much about it at all. They bore me to death. Discuss it all you want but I'm really sick of US politics at this point.

  • I know all the politics have run quite a few of the new blurtit users like myself away. Elections over and nothing we can do about it. Every day, that's about all I see here.
I couldn't agree more with GLis here as it's boring as hell.
I think it would be better off in the Debate section.
The last few days that I've come on here and looked at questions? At least two pages of Trump crap. I know it's pretty much ran me off and I know others who feel the same.

GREAT QUESTION !  Something I've been wanting to ask myself.

  • Well  MJW..  Please stay and contribute.   We'ed like it if y'all did.

I like to indulge in some talk about politics from time to time.  I assume most of us do.  As long as there is an open mind and ear to each side.  That said,  variety never hurt anyone. This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at December 12, 2016 7:14 AM MST

I don't care if it's about Trump or anyone else, when they take the majority of space they will "kill" what else could be a lovely and colorful forum. The questions about Hillary that were inspired by Breitbart and even worse sources some time back (before you guys came here) were even as annoying. The huge difference was that if you were responding on those questions, and debunk them you'd risk getting under personal attack by some of those posters. Anyway, no matter this we would be better of with political questions going into the debate room, just like we take adult discussions into the adultMug. It should leave the main board a pleasant place to stay for all and have a bit of relaxation and fun.

  • Spreading out questions about one single topic over time and areas of the Mug I think would be ideal.
When I was new I would sometimes get the impression groups of people and some individuals would try to "own" the main page with their thoughts and topics.   It kinda seemed bullish.  Give others a chance to have recognition of their thoughts too is all.

    Let's share!

We cannot limit people. It has to come from themselves. However, like with the adultMug and the Free-for-all we can make sure to keep the main board family friendly. Let the "debates" take place in the debate room where the really interested people can take part. The rest of us can look inside whenever we feel like having a political question. This way there would be room for everyone, and people wouldn't run off this place as they believe there is no place here unless being political all the time.

  • Happy that some people are able to read into the context of a question and not let their tempers and ego get in the way of rationality.

  • I agree very much SapphicHeart. It just gets on your nerves when you come here looking to answer a few questions and all you see is Trump this or Trump that. Damn! Election is over, time to move on and hope for the best. Am I wrong ?

Takes more than hope in my view, and could be interesting discussing in more open and not manipulating ways. A series of questions won't be how we make it a healthy debate however. I still think the better solution is having political questions go into the debate room.

    Hello Glis:

Some people are here to talk about Posy's..  Some are here to talk about saving the world.  And, SOME are here to complain about their fellowman..  Whaddya gonna do??

  • Anyone here thinking they are saving the world needs their head checked.
Might be one thing if these people actually talked about them.   They tend not to.  Just make passive-aggressive digs disguised as questions.
When it's just an excuse and veiled attempt to insult others people turn away.  Tell me how efficient it is towards "saving the world"  when no one is left to hear it except the few  looking for a circle jerk. This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at December 12, 2016 6:22 AM MST

    Hello again, Glis:

They????  THEY????  I was talking about ME..  I'm the one here saving the world..  If you wanna DIG Posy's, I'm NOT gonna complain about you.. Why is what I do SOOOO problematic for you????  I don't CROWD out questions about Posy's...  They're STILL there.

What??  Does it HURT your eyes to read about politics?? Does it HURT your sensibilities???  Does it HURT your morality???

I'm FINE with ALL of that...  I'm NOT here to make YOU happy.

Does it hurt you that members here are discussing the structure of aM and where certain questions should belong, weather on a main board or in a group?

Btw, does it mean anything to you that new members are running off this place after a few days here because of how the question board presents itself today, or are you proud of that too?

Is it okay with you that stuff like this can be discussed without "insulting" each other?

And a follow up question, would it hurt you to post your political questions inside the debate room, just as we are supposed to do with our questions inside adultMug if they are of a more adult character? This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at December 12, 2016 7:57 AM MST

    Hello SH:

Anybody who runs away because they saw a political question SHOULD run away.. If I RAN this site, I'd be THRILLED that a person who was OFFENDED by the questions on MY site, LEFT...

What I think JA should do, is BAN talk about PEOPLE...  I've had 20 new members tell me they LEFT because of posts like THIS one, SNIPING at their fellow members.   What??

Look..  Let's start a category called COMPLAINTS about ROSIE.. We can even put it in the debate room..

    excon

PS>  Do you REALLY think this thread isn't about INSULTING somebody???

Looks like you haven't followed what my position on name calling is.

Sorry. I added a follow up question in my reply while you were replying on it. My bad.

As for you captured letters, feel free to make use of them, they aren't impressive to me at all. I look through the content myself and not what anyone wants to lead me to read by making use of them. If anything they will lead me to believe a person is trying to BS me and drag my attention away from it. Like not really replying on the questions they were asked.

I have to disagree with your view on what to be proud of and what not. A side running off members isn't anything that makes me proud to be a member of. I'm proud to be a member of a place that leaves space for everyone, and that breathes a healthy atmosphere. I see no such balance today. Sorry, I simply cannot see this. I could go deeper on this including values etc. but it would be another discussion and not one suited under the original asked questions, which I for once find to be asked in a respectful manner compared to previous raised questions on this matter. Nevertheless mind, we will hardly ever agree on this. Have a lovely day.

And PS, yes I do honestly believe this question isn't about insulting anyone As asked by the OP. As for some of the replies, no I do not think so and I have addressed those like I have done with you. This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at December 12, 2016 7:37 AM MST

    Hello again, SH:

Look..  I have NO attachments to this site..  I don't OWN it.  I don't make money off it..  I'm not proud of it, nor am I ashamed of it..  It's a place on my computer where I can post questions about saving the world.. If somebody doesn't like that, they can post their objections..  But, if they do, they'll have to DEAL with me, cause I'm gonna BE in their face...

    excon

PS>  So, you DON'T think this thread is just one BIG COMPLAINT about Rosie??  Okee doakee..

One comment: I know this question isn't about the person you try making it about.

A bonus comment: It could be a healthy discussion of how we should make use of the main board, and groups at aM IF members are going into the topic open-minded and not with a biased mind.

As for the original comment for this post, it was deleted when you deleted it to add it here instead. You will know what the content was, and you have neglected to reply to it. Okee doakee.. (to quote yoursefl)
