Do you really think everybody should be punished for their 'sins' after they die?

Does it make any sense; what good would it do?

Hmm. How do we do? Slander them after they died? Nah, you're right... what good would it do..?!

Wise old Buddha said "do as you will but harm no one".

    Peace be with ye!

No point to that. If anything, we should be all be punished while alive! Sadly, Karma seems to be asleep on the job much of the time! : )

  • Is interesting ... The concept in the question is based on Christian beliefs ... No one yet answered with that  belief system ... Does this mean we are maturing?

To answer it based on Christian beliefs requires to believe in Christianity. I do not meet that criteria. :-)

You will either make it into eternal life in Heaven or not. Those who don't will experience the 2nd death....the death of the soul.

Researching 'soul' via Internet  (Wikipedia ) : an interesting project.

I consider after life as simply a different dimension of existence; different dimension of awareness sans a God or spiritual reality.

It is a different dimension. But not all will be there.

I am infinitely the same existence before life began, during life and after end of life.

Some after death will exist in the Lake of Fire.

The Lake of Fire is death to the soul.....not eternal torture.

Well since I have no reason to believe in existence of supernatural God (s) of creation or any beliefs relating to supernatural concepts due to lack of evidence then I search for what can seem to be reasonable alternatives.

Why ask if you don't want the answer?

Seems you gave an answer indicating your point of view. That's fine and acceptable.
    No problem.

It is simply not what I agree with.

Your question was about punishment AFTER death. But you don't believe in God or any gods or a creator of any kind.....who do you suppose would be deciding the punishment at time?

I indicated that I think punishment after death would not make any sense.
There will be no element to decide or make punishment.

Ecclesiastes 4:2 says the dead are happier than the living -something to that effect.  So there must not be any punishment.

Does no good to quote the Bible in disbelief and misunderstanding.

    Ecc 4:1-3
    Evil Under the Sun

1Again I saw all the oppressions that are done under the sun. And behold, the tears of the oppressed, and they had no one to comfort them! On the side of their oppressors there was power, and there was no one to comfort them.2And I thought the dead who are already dead more fortunate than the living who are still alive. 3But better than both is he who has not yet been and has not seen the evil deeds that are done under the sun.

This is talking about the trials in the flesh earthly life. A righteous man can look forward to death because he will be with the Lord.
Paul in Philippians talks about how he would was torn between going to be the Lord or staying here and finishing his race..

Phil 1:21 Christ means everything to me in this life, and when I die I'll have even more.22If I continue to live in this life, my work will produce more results. I don't know which I would prefer. 23I find it hard to choose between the two. I would like to leave this life and be with Christ. That's by far the better choice. 24But for your sake it's better that I remain in this life.

Who doesn't have some misunderstandings of the bible or who believes the entire bible as literal truth?

Far as I am concerned anything supernatural is mythology. This post was edited by Kittigate at December 15, 2016 9:01 PM MST

The verse you are quoting does not mean what you are claiming it means.
It has nothing to do with judgement of the dead but is about the evils of this world.  Context matters.
The concept of another dimension is supernatural. You seemed to have said you believe in life after death....that is supernatural.

I consider that life on earth(or whatever planet) just really a meaningless flash during  the infinity of time. Life/awareness gives the impression that we are individual which we really are not. I think some form of universal consciousness (a different dimension of existence ) as Buddha has expressed- that is the basis of life;  from which life can spring forth anywhere when conditions are suitable to enable process of abiogenesis This post was edited by Kittigate at December 16, 2016 4:38 PM MST

"Those who don't will experience the 2nd death....the death of the soul." interesting, but is there a quote from God or Jesus which teaches that.
