One such point is your description of life being "A gift of the highest order." Perhaps a difference between theists and atheists is that theists have, in their minds, a matching feeling of gratitude, of the highest order, and a being, in their minds, to direct that feeling of gratitude to, whereas atheists don't.

In some ways Jesus was quite a problem everywhere he went. However, they couldn't find anything really wrong with him. So in the end the elite, the influential and the ruling classes bore false witness against him to get rid of him, or as Matthew 26:59 puts it, “Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death”   less

It depends on what you mean by Christian. Catholics, Calvinists and Mormons are just three of the thousands of faith groups who claim to be Christian.2. If by Christian you mean a believer in and follower of the beliefs, practices and teachings of Jesus the Christ as depicted in the Gospels then one can claim that Muslims are by far the best Christians about. If Jesus and his mother were to look at the practices and dress codes of all the faith communities that believe in Jesus today they are most likely to feel at home among devout Muslims. 3. Below are just a few facts to back up the claim. References are given for anyone wanting to check them up. “Can anyone explain this?" you ask. I’ll try. Imagine the following encounter between a deeply devout Christian and a potential convert : DDC: God tells us in His holy book, the Bible, that He is holy and He cannot have any sinful person in His presence. Q "Do you Christians who feel the need to "spread the word" to others because you supposedly love them believe that this is going too far?"
======================================1. There are many examples which serve as evidence that Christian evangelists are driven by such an extreme missionary zeal that they even put their very lives at risk, willingly and knowingly. For example, according to https://www.christiantoday.com/article/6-inspiring-christian-missionaries-who-gave-up-everything-for-christ/85936.htm, "In January 1956 .... five men were killed by members of the tribe as they approached them in person for the first time with the hopes of sharing the gospel." Such missionary zeal has continued unabated. Just last November, John Chau, a 26-year-old American missionary trained by an evangelical organization called All Nations, was killed by the isolated Indian Ocean tribe he was attempting to convert to Christianity.2. Some souls tried to put right that omission in 1 John 5:7 and succeeded for many centuries but the scriptural insertion got thrown out recently as a fabrication know as the Johannine Comma. Curiously enough, although it’s the Gospel according to John which lends most support to the divinity of Jesus, with the synoptics being a little less forthright, it is the Gospel according to Luke which seeks to leave no doubt in the reader’s mind that Jesus was son of God because there was sexual intercourse between God and Mary. Luke 1:27 tells us that “She was engaged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of King David.” Why it bothers to mention that Joseph was a descendant of King David if Jesus was not his son anyway is a bit strange. If we pick up the narration from Luke 1:31 where the angel Gabriel is speaking to Mary, and quote the relevant parts the we get the following:2. “You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. 32He will be very great and will be called the Son of the Most High. Religion must not be above criticism. The more challenging the criticism the better. For criticism to be challenging it has to be well researched and backed up by evidence from the main source of the religion itself. 2. Let's begin with, "That's nice of you to try to convinve me that Islam is not all that evil." >>> That implies that you view Islam as very evil. You didn't give any evidence of that apart from saying that you "have too much first hand experience with this religion." This is a bit like most Christian evangelist whose evidence for why their beliefs represent the truth is their "first hand experience with this religion."3. "as we speak, people are still killed leaving Islam" >>> I have no evidence of people getting killed leaving Islam, but just because I have no evidence does not mean that it does not happen. However, I think by wording it the way you have, you have painted a picture of it happening continuously, and by doing so, without presenting...    less

I too am glad that you "have been able to see "reality" given time and experience even after indoctrination from the time of birth." Islam criticises those who hold beliefs purely because their fathers held them. For example in HQ 2:170 it asks, "What, even if their fathers did not understand anything and were not guided ?"2.1 It's quite possible that D&D doesn't stand for it, but just like we're conditioned to associate B&B with bed and breakfast, I must be conditioned by what is prevalent in the mass media and popular talk, to almost instinctively associate D&D with death and destruction. It doesn't surprise me therefore when people unavoidably associate apostasy from Islam with death, and I wouldn't be surprised if the image conjured is death by beheading. Once formed these associations are almost impossible to break.
2.2 The truth is that whereas the Bible at Deuteronomy 13:6-11 leaves no doubt about what you must do to any member of your family or friends for the mere suggestio...    less

Every language has its equivalent of the English word "God" and Arabic is no different. Arabic's equivalent of God is Allah. Just like the English word God is not confined to any religion and is freely used in English translations of the Qur'an similarly the Arabic word Allah is not confined to any religion and is freely used in Arabic copies of the Christian Bible.2. Incidentally Arabic has its equivalent of the English god - it is ilah or elah3. "God-loving people are not the most peaceful of peoples." is a very sweeping claim but yes you're right one needs to "Thread carefully" or even tread carefully and certainly be sceptical and have one's wits about one when dealing with anything to do with religions  less

if rationality, scepticism and having one's wits about oneself can lead to Satanism then perhaps all our universities have been in the grip of Satanism, not to mention all of us who try to be rational, sceptic and having our wits about us.

Burying that is burying part of one's humanness and in many cases it's futile. When embarking on a journey in search of spirituality, as long as one keeps one's wits about and doesn't let go of healthy scepticism one can find a set of beliefs that will fulfill one's spiritual needs and make one feel a complete well rounded spiritual and rational human being. One is then at peace with oneself. Nothing wrong with that, is there?  less

At age 14, he lost interest in religion, going through a self-described spiritual crisis. He also began engaging in delinquency by joining a local gang and became a local Hip-Hop DJ and producer, making records with various artists. After converting to Islam in 1992, Webb left his career as a DJ and studied at the University of Central Oklahoma, where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in Education. He also studied privately under a Senegalese Sheikh, learning enough Islam and Arabic to become a community leader...    less

In your assertion that "it has all we need to know in it" your "it" obviously refers to "the Bible" and I suppose "we" must refer to Christians. However, the Church of the LDS apparently doesn't agree with that assertion.
