What do you think are some things that could make a reasonable person change their mind about belief in God and the bible/scriptures (

We hear various stories about miraculous events happening which could be assumed true;  but there is almost always an alternate explanation that could suggest the event is not of a Divine Intervention

WE hear all sorts of things.
one says this and one says that...
    just who can you believe???
    NO ONE
    ...The Truth is within you
nowhere else is the ultimate truth found.
    It is WITHIN you.
That means you have direct access
    to that truth.
    ...Look within for your answers,
    and a direct experience of
    the oneness within you,
only then will you have an understanding
and knowledge of what really is.
...no amount of scripture reading will give you a direct experience
    of the truth within you.

Search for truth within myself is never ending . Thus far no need  for the truth to be of a Divine source.
Although i think there may be some element of supernatural but I think belief in God/gods was inspired by belief  in supernatural .
I don't think God is required for existence.

    haha
    Conclusion reached through thought.
Thought will not give you truthful answer
    Absolute truth beyond thought
    beyond Ego.
cannot be thought about to understand.

People believe what they choose to believe, we rarely choose to doubt our own perception... That would mean we in all our divine rightness were wrong! And that just can't be possible ;)

Seriously though, I suspect there is a magnet effect in the back and forth on religious / non-religious views. The more you challenge such a fundamental belief / disbelief, the more they stick to their guns. It's one thing to question in our own heads, before an audience most (not all) will only double down.

Besides, few are seeking to be convinced... and especially not those who claim they are. They're the least likely to be convinced of all of us! Online, that is.

I guess many people would feel totally lost without a God to believe in -and even say they would continue to believe in God if God was proven non-existent.

"What else is there"? They would ask.

I think as Baba said ..one can search for answers within themselves.

I think the reason that people don't believe in God is because he is not around much these days.
He pretty much dumped us out here and said fend for yourselves.
So here we are running around like chickens whit our heads cut off trying to figure things out.
I don't worry about it much anymore and just live my life the best way I can.

"just live my life the best way I can." is probably what we were meant to do and may be the basis on which we will be called to account.

"We do not burden any soul with more than what it can bear: for with Us is a record that speaks the truth [about what each person can do and what s/he actually does]; thus none shall be wronged [in the way it is judged]" HQ 23:62

That's always a possibility. And if it inspires people to be better, I see nothing wrong with that. I think belief / disbelief are only problematic when we're convinced we have a free-pass to be monsters, you know?

There are a lot of people I don't love.
Does that make me a bad person?

Well it is hard to love anybody who has been nasty to you; I wouldn't say that makes you a bad person.
Just use your own judgment how to deal with them in a reasonable way.

Good point, when something feels wrong, that's as good an indication as any other to take a step back and rethink a situation :)

Happy Holidays, btw. Good to see you :)

One can still have a belief in God but change their mind about the way the are being taught about him.
Often it's hard to tell if what people are being taught is following Gods word or man's agenda.

For me, it's God materializing out of thin air. Anything short of that and it won't take.
