I remember the funny memes to counter that. Remember the"Obama did it" stuff? It would be silly pictures of food dropping on the floor or bad weather in the forecast. Some of that was pretty funny.
I don't believe for one second that ALL men have acted in this way. I was raised with six brothers and many, many male relatives. None of them spoke in any such manner. My father would have kicked their butts, if they had. Saying that all males 'do this' reminds me of children getting caught cussing then 'blaming' their siblings, or whomever for the BAD behavior. I thought we were supposed to 'own' our actions, whether good or bad. To excuse behavior by pointing a finger at someone else, shows a lack of character...imo

Even my snarky brother would NEVER speak of women this way behind closed doors. I am shocked at what some conservatives believe is normal, yet these same ones seem to be so outraged at someone like Madonna throwing the F bomb and making her cheap shots. Newsflash! Most of us don't think of Madonna as our spokesperson. Trump on the other hand holds a position that demands a high moral code.
My son has always acted in a respectful manner towards both men and women and would never make such a comment. And I agree that men who think all men act like that, are men I would not want to know.
Interestingly enough, all those so called angry feminist that supposedly were the only ones marching on Saturday don't seem to assume all men talk like this.
We taught our son AND our daughters to be respectful to all. I am really grateful to have been influenced by the men I had in my family. They taught me to have high standards for any man who is in my life. :D
It was a learning curve for me since I didn't have the greatest self esteem as a young woman. But now I do and I surround myself with people that respect each other.
I think if the circumstances had been exactly the same, where Obama said it over a hot mic and the audio was released prior to the election, it would have completely derailed his campaign and made him a pariah. Look at what happened to Howard Dean. All it took was a maniacal laugh.

Democrats or liberals wouldn't care, Republicans or conservatives would be outraged and wouldn't shut up about it and everybody else would think it was gross but they would just get on with their lives and forget about it after a while.
Not true. Raging Republicans want liberals to STFU about women's rights, healthcare, interest rates, Donald's foul mouth....
They are offended by someone like Madonna who has always been outrageous, but holds NO public office the last I checked, but think Donald's mouth ought to be excused.
The Democrats and liberals I know have class and would have been outraged if Obama had said it. Why aren't the Republicans or conservatives outraged that Trump said it?
All my liberal friends are outraged that anyone was out there making fun of Donald's young son or making cheap shots at Melania. I just wish my conservative friends had the same outrage for the last 8 years at some of the horrific statements and memes of Obama and his family.
Honestly, I think it would have depended on when in the campaign it was discovered. If late in the campaign, with the thought that Palin would have been second chair and could possibly end up as president if something happened to McCain, I think those voters who might otherwise have withheld a vote for him based upon that would have dismissed it...much as people on the right did knowing withholding their vote based upon that would mean Clinton would now be president. JMHO
I have to admit that I agree with you, given what you say about why Hillary did not win.
Many people did indeed dislike Sarah Palin enough to have gone with Mr. Obama, regardless of what he could have gotten away with. I am not sure though it wouldn't have been enough to make him tank with the general election.
Thankfully, I can honestly say with a full heart that I voted for Mr. Obama for all the right reasons and never faced the dilemma with him.
If it had come out after he was already the nominee, as it did with Trump, I firmly believe the same would have happened as did with Trump.
I probably should have included how the right would have responded in my original reply, which would have been with outrage. Hypocrisy? Yeppers. But hypocrisy isn't solely an attribute from the right.
I will also add, as I see many discussing this, that yes, many, many men have said similar things when the women who love them are not around. I grew up with all boys, have worked almost exclusively with men my entire life, the majority of my friends have always been boys/men, and I have a knack for becoming "one of the guys", so I do have a basis for stating that factually. Not all men, to be sure, but sometimes the ones that do spout off with statements like that are ones you'd have bet your life would never say such things.
Hi Boz! I am not locked into either side and I will vote for who I think is the best one for the job. And in Obama's case, I voted for him due to McCain's choice as VP. But if there had been a better choice from the right, I may have voted for them. I didn't want Hillary either so there ya go. Had Obama shown such little respect for women I probably would not have voted for him either. But if we only voted on a persons moral values, we wouldn't have much to choose from. Look at Kennedy, he was loved by so many people and yet he was one of the worst womanizers around.
