Right. There is no reason for any personal vehicle to be that loud.

Yeah, why are they all riding with open exhausts? You know, a stock exhaust sounds nice on a Harley. OK, so the open pipes on a Harley XR 750 racer is one of the best sounds ever, but that is a closed-circuit situation, not my neighborhood streets.

whistle6, I've ridden motorcycles a big share of my life and most of my bikes have had loud exhaust. Speaking only for myself, my reasoning behind that is two-fold. One, it sounds cool. Hey, what can I say? Two, and most importantly, I live in Michigan and the deer population is high here and  the loud exhaust tends to scare and keep them away from the area the noise is coming from. The loud exhaust has saved me from great bodily harm on more than one occasion.

Whatever the reason for anyone else to have loud exhaust, whether it be a Harley rider, a muscle car driver, or something else, is fine with me. If it's within the law I say do it. If the noise decibels aren't within the law then I'm sure something will be done. Loud and obnoxious people annoy me but it's not against the law. You just have to stop whining and learn to live with it.

Rpf, it's not a matter of whether anyone NEEDS a bike that loud, it's a matter of whether they WANT a bike that loud and as long as it's within the legal limit, they are abiding by the law. If they aren't abiding by the law, people have a valid reason to complain and expect them to comply. .

Rufus, since motorcycles are not always seen by other drivers, the loud exhaust can also let other vehicles know that a motorcycle is nearby. And that's beneficial for both rider AND driver as well as animals.

Of course they have bigger penises. Why do you think they have no shortages of vaginas all too willing to snuggle up close behind them.
