Perhaps if little kids weren't witness to how many of their parents lie. Perhaps if they were taught at a very early age that to lie will kill them.( If they are old enough to lie they are old enough to understand what "kill you" means.) Perhaps lying would no longer exist. It would be bred out of the species. Unless you are suggesting that everyone is born with the propensity to lie. It is nature not nurture. You've made me think about the silly movie, The Invention of Lying, in which everybody tells the truth until one man changes the status quo and lies. It begs the question, where did the first lie come from? If it is only a learned behavior, how did we start? I think with our ability of reasoned thinking, lying started out as a basic survival skill, and I believe it still is in very young children. I have a god-daughter who didn't have siblings and at 2 or 3 years old, eventually blamed the cat when her mother found she had drawn on the wall with a crayon. I think she came up with what she thought was an acceptable answer out of her fear of punishment.

From that I will extrapolate that evil must be part of human nature too. We gotta get working on this chips Harry. I just thought of another question. "Can you rewire DNA"? In the meantime, yes, I agree, part of human nature is not good. If we were all inherently good, we wouldn't have wars which, as you know, have been around since the beginning of mankind. Your extrapolation that evil is part of human nature is sound IMO. When I think about serial killers, I know there has to be both a chemical (nature) & social (nurture) reason why they have become that way, as opposed to a sibling who doesn't become one. I don't know if you know the history of the Staynor family but they are a prime example of this. Steven was kidnapped when he was 7, abused by his kidnapper Kenneth Parnell, and later, as a young teen, managed to escape because he was motivated to help save another little boy that Parnell had recently kidnapped. Steven was one of 5 children, 3 girls, 2 boys. His brother was Cary Staynor. Cary became known as the Yosemite Park Killer. During questioning, he stated even before his brother was kidnapped he fantasized about killing women. So, the question becomes, why was Cary compelled to commit murder, when none of his siblings did?
I wonder if anyone can answer that question completely, logically and truthfully? Maybe there are lots of variables at play all the time with everyone and some of us just luck out and some of us don' t. Thank you for your thoughtful and informative reply Harry. I have heard those names but I did not remember in what context Thank for taking the time to fill me in. Some children live wonderful lives. Some live unbelievably horrific lives. I wonder if it written somewhere who gets what before we're born?
We know what is right and what is wrong. We know that when we lie we are doing something wrong. If we are taught early on that doing wrong will kill you wouldn't that be a good deterrent? This is my favourite question ever! Made me laugh :) I hate lying, and in the case of Trump well that would have been a great way to get rid of him.. Harry pointed out that most kids lie... and I have to confess that one of the reasons I don't lie EVER is that when I was a kid I did try lying a few times and my mum always KNEW and she always said that lying is bad and hard work as you have to remember who you told what lie to... in other words liars always get caught out cos they make mistakes.. i have a rotten memory so its best I don't lie as I's always get found out..
I vote a limit on lies... say 6 lies and poof you're gone.. it would take Trump all of half a day to be gone like that since he lies scores a time before breakfast
Good Morning and Aaaahhhh Yes! Your answer proves good parenting and learning the valuable lesson: When there is an action there will be a reaction. Lying will get you the reaction that is very unfavorable to all parties involved!!
Haha! With only 6 lies, I don't think he would last half a day! I can only imagine the amount of lies he tells to himself in his mirror first thing every morning.

We KNOW lying is wrong. If we know that doing wrong will be the death of us that's a pretty good deterrent to not do it. But if you are allowed six lies in your life maybe they are like being allowed wishes. Maybe you save them for something really important and never use them. I will think on it! You don't know what kind of president Hillary would have been bh. You will never know. Your opinion is based on your feelings about her not how she has performed as president. Maybe one day he will stop being so full of himself, realize the gravity of the job he took on, settle down and become a decent president. Right now he is a disaster. But he is a Newbie and doesn't know his a** from a hole the ground. So he screws up everything he does and says. He may always be that way. Time will tell. If we survive him.
