Stepped up ICE raids going on daily. We're told it's only criminals who are being rounded up. How do they know?

If they have ALREADY identified the criminals among the illegals why weren't they locked up or deported before this? Something STINKS bigtime. And so it goes. :(

Because Obama did not enforce the law and sanctuary cities did not listen to ICE orders.

You don't see the irony inherent in your question, do you Rosie?

No m'dear. No irony there Bozette. Trump has been in office since January 20. It is now February 12. What was he waiting for? Why the delay? Why didn't he get it done on DAY ONE? For OVER 3 WEEKS he allowed dangerous criminals to roam about. WHY?  WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY?  So thank you for your question. Did I answer it to your satisfaction?

Irony is evident in abundance.  If they are illegal, then they have broken the law, no?  Then there is the question of why those convicted of other crimes, particularly felonies, were not already deported?  They didn't commit those crimes during the past three weeks.  And finally, he has been in office for three weeks, and whether you like the man or not, he is taking action on his campaign promises, and pretty damn quickly compared to past presidents.

Just to clarify: the vast majority of immigration violations are not criminal acts, they are administrative infractions, much like traffic offenses and code violations.
If and when a person who is not a US citizen is physically present in the US without the benefit of legal immigration status, that in itself is not criminal. However, if that same person is also convicted of a felony that has absolutely nothing to do with immigration status (murder, manslaughter, rape, assault, battery, arson, fraud, embezzlement, certain types of conspiracies, etc, etc, etc), that is what is meant by "a criminal alien".
Aliens who have legal status in the US can also face deportation if convicted of what's known as a deportable offense, such as listed above.

Sorry, Randy, while I personally may agree with you, legally that is not the case.

It's likely I'm uninformed and that you ate better versed in the subject than I am.

You are correct that some immigrants are here unlawfully, but have not committed a "crime", such as those who have overstayed their visa.  But those who knowingly come here without any legal means at all, such as those who enter improperly (border jumpers), have indeed committed a crime, albeit a misdemeanor.

Legally speaking (to parallel the distinction you made above), based on actual written laws of the US, illegal immigration is not a criminal act, and cannot be persued in criminal court. Immigration court is an administrative process, therefore, its procedures vary from those of criminal courts.

    Hello Rosie:

Let's talk about law breakers..  IF there are WORDS written down in a book, and you VIOLATE 'em, are YOU a criminal??  Nahhh...  I think spitting on the sidewalk is still a crime in most places.. But, nobody gets arrested for it.  So, if we write it down in a book, and NEVER enforce it, IS it really a law???  I say NO.

If you can go 60 in a 55 MPH zone, and you KNOW you won't be ticketed because NOBODY who goes 5 miles over the limit gets tickets, did you break the law???     I say NO.

Let's talk about Tio..  I met Tio round 60 years ago.  When he crossed the border, there were no walls or fences. He DIDN'T see a do not cross sign..  He saw a help wanted sign.  So, he came into the country and went to work.   In those days, nobody minded..  Johnny Carson would even joke about his wet back nanny..  Today, Tio is 70 something years old.  He has a big family who are ALL American citizens..  Should we throw Tio out?

    I say NO!

I agree with thee. Every letter of every syllable of every wor you wrote aboved! I do. What is going on now in America is UNAMERICAN/UNPATRIOTIC due to an unbalanced uncaring undisciplined unworthy human being who conned his way into a job for which he is the least qualified of any human being on the face of the earth INCLUDING 3-year-olds and the insane. How it will end I do not know but it will not be classy or proper or honorable. Thank you for your reply excon and Happy Sunday! :)

    Keyword: Illegals

If they are here working they have gained access to a SS# this is either fraud or identity theft. These are illegal acts.

Now, I would prefer they concentrate on violent criminals and handle the rest a after we secure the border.

They have been rounding up illegal aliens. It is just getting more attention now so Trump can get the credit for it.

Tbere were far more deportations under Obama than most realize or gave him credit for, so yes, it was already happening.  Trump has widened the scope, however.

Very true, and I am sure Trump will have great success at deporting many more.
