The only time I ever flew a kite was in my late 30's with my kid, then-husband, and my kid's friend. It was so much fun! I think Kite flying is suitable to any age. Thank you for your reply Ele! :)
I was told to go fly a kite many times, it is a lot of fun and there are no age limits, I used a casting line and my fishing reel, let it out hundreds of feet and reel it in when you are done.
Somehow, I ended up with a really serious kiteflyers kite with 1000 feet of string on a spool. I sent it up for the entertainment of the young relatives. It could go up a long way, but I decided it would become entangled in a power pole or trees.
Oh, yeah. I've flown a kite. A big one. The most exciting thing that happened during my brief career in the air was the day I landed in a paddock where a bull was grazing. I looked at him, he looked at me, and there I was strapped into a technicolour hang glider. And he kept eating. Whew!
Two of my sons and two of their club mates decided to try launching their kites from a hot air balloon. It had never been done in Australia before and when they arrived at Canowindra (the balloon capital of Australia) they discovered that the whole town had been talking about it. When they checked in to their motel the manager asked if they'd mind paying in advance. She didn't think they'd be there to check out. :(

Pearl, when I was a kid we lived about 500 metres from a park, and that park had a hill up one side. Every year, in July and August (the windy season in Sydney) all the kids would go there after school and on the weekend and fly kites. We'd sit on that hill for ages, just enjoying them. It's more than 65 years since I did that and I still have fond memories of it. We need to hang on to our memories of the good times so we can go back and visit.
I did when my eldest niece was little and we did it at the beach so there were no trees or power lines to bring it down. It was a windy day and we were able to keep it up for a long time. Lots of fun.
