Are you incredulous? Warning this is political! Why do some people believe the opposite?

So apparently the Canadian PM thinks Trump is an idiot. Pretty much the rest of the world think's he's an idiot, half or more of America think's he's an idiot.. I am by nature a psychologist and people watcher... why are there some, who, no matter what facts they are given, or see before them still believe the total opposite to others? Do then not see what others can? When they are given facts they will still not believe them...I am struggling to understand...

I am a Brit, we know that.. here we have many different opinions, we often find people who disagree with our opinions, but when presented with facts we can usually admit we were wrong... and we don't seem to be such polar opposites as we see with the Trump regime... how come, is this phenomenon because of Trump?

Lots of folks think he's a moron, but what solution do you propose? Our next presidential election isn't until November 2020.

  • Truly Stu, I don't have a solution... I am a psychologist and people watcher by nature, not a tactician or politician.. I just truly, and I do mean that honestly, don't understand this phenomenon where people refuse to see what's before them.. Opinion is one thing and we are all free to disagree with opinions.. but this is something different..

I've encountered the odd person in my life who can be hard to *reach* but it's rare to encounter someone who point blank refuses to believe facts and offers alternative versions..

Daydream, perhaps one of Trump's supporters will have an answer for you.  I'm not a fan of Trump.  Far, far from it.  However, I am someone whose life is steered by facts and logic.  I am a news junky to the max. The first sentence of your question has me confused & I have to question what you are saying about Trudeau's opinion of Trump being an idiot.  I haven't read anything with Trudeau stating that.  Did he make a public statement after their meeting that I'm not aware of?  I can't find anything that supports it.  Will you please post the link where you read that?  Cheers. :)

LOL.  Beans!  Do you believe this?  Say it ain't so!  lol.

Honestly, Palmer is as bad as Breitbart.  Neither of those sites is credible IMO.  Making statements based upon the belief that a "rogue White House account on twitter" is a credible source to be cited is completely irresponsible reporting.  Snopes has found at least two instances in which Palmer's "reports" were false:

    http://www.sn opes.com/trump-staged-speechwriting-picture/

    http://www.snopes.com/2017/01/19/inaugural-block-lincoln-memorial/

I cannot believe Trudeau would say anything negative about the head of another country while camped in that person's backyard  It's illogical, knowing as everyone does, that all the White House's walls have eyes and ears.

BTW,  I love at the bottom of the "article" the links Palmer includes: "Not My President" and "Impeach Trump Now."  LOL.  Not quite the impartial party is he?

Just more Alt-fact, they're running wild these days.  I take what he says with a grain of salt.

I too am wondering where you saw that Trudeau thinks that Trump is an idiot.  He had obviously noticed Trumps handshakes and countered them well, but I saw nothing about his thoughts!

As it says in that link, "Alleged quote"  (But personally, I would tend to agree with it. However, as I am not an American, my feelings re Trump do not count)

Canadians usually just call other Canadians idiots.  I never heard of any Canadian calling a person from another country 'idiot'.

As long as he continues to do what he said he would do during the campaign.....I don't care what anyone else thinks of him. I don't care about his personal life etc.
    It is all about policy.

What, exactly, has he done?  The Wall isn't being built and he's already admitted that Mexico is not going to pay for it.  The ACA hasn't been repealed or replaced, so people are in a sort of limbo with healthcare.  The Tax Code hasn't been revised.  So, what are his accomplishments?

He has been President for 3 weeks.....He has taken steps towards each of these goals. Through EOs signed.
No one is in healthcare limbo. No changes have been made, he wants a seamless transition when it is done. He has made an excellent post pick for SCOTUS. He is upgrading our vetting process.  I don't care if we pay or we get the money from Mexico. It is supposed to cost $20+billion..... sounds like a lot. But not when you consider illegals cost us Double that amount annually $54 billion.
He has reversed several of Obama's EOs as anything done with a "pen and a phone" can be undo by the next Pres with his "pen and phone".

  • Last year EO was bad.   This year EO is good.  SMGDH.

Some EOs are good....some are simply explaining how the President wants a law enforced/enacted. That is a Presidents job.

Some EOs are bad..... some are a President overreaching their power. By writing laws through EOs.

  • However Obama was always being blasted for over-using it ( which I agree he did) but Trump is going willy-nilly with them in three weeks and  his wide-eyed  groupies think it's wonderful. By and large the same people who said we need to remove the right of EO during the last administration.  That's hypocrisy.

I never said we should remove the EO from executive power.
Are there any EOs you feel Trump has signed that were overreaching power grabs?

Every President writes them and depending on your particular POV or party affiliation, every President over reaches. lol.  I don't think Trump or Obama are any different from each other or their predecessors in that. ;-)

So, he hasn't actually accomplished anything - just signed EOs.  That's what I thought.

It doesn't really matter what the rest of the world thinks, the rest of the world doesn't vote on it. It doesn't matter what the leader of India thinks of Theresa May, or what a Croatian immigrant in Germany thinks of her, or what a citizen of Brazil thinks of her either. The only people who have a valid say on it is the people who has to live with them, and that's those who have the power to vote for it. In Trump's case, it's Americans. You'd be deluding yourself if you think the Canadian PM's opinion can have any impact on what can go on in the US. The "facts" that are presented to you are brought to you courtesy of your left-wing media, and what you read and agree with on the net.

A fellow answerbagger (OS) posted this on that site several years back: Inside the conservative brain: What explains their wiring?  Neuroscience can help us understand the strangest of birds: The modern conservative. They really do think different.

What's logical, through hard facts, don't seem to fit into some of their playbooks. This post was edited by Beans/SilentGeneration at February 15, 2017 11:16 AM MST
