An occasional biscuit, not two, probably would be OK.

  • Don't get me wrong, I love biscuits and I eat bread when I have a sandwich.

  • "I can" ... but I don't like having to take all those tranquilizers. :)

  • I love fresh bread, although I rarely eat it at a meal, and I very rarely buy regular sandwich bread....never eat it!

I can, but somehow, a meal is not complete without some bread.  I have sandwiches for lunch when I'm at work, so that means at least two slices.

  • Bread is good. Wraps are better. We use both.

  • Hi Beans/SG,

Like Flo, I am less active and looking to cut down carbohydrates...plus wheat gets monotonous...

So I am experimenting with recipes that do not include gluten.
Here is "cornbread" that contains neither flour nor corn...hi-protein with chickpea flour...and it is surprisingly delicious!

So yes it seems I can eat without bread, if you allow flourless substitutes that provide lots of nutrition and taste good too.

  • Sounds great. Would you believe I've never tried  corn bread? Something to keep in mind.

  • Oh...in my salad days, Dozy, I had a great recipe for corn bread and got famous for it and really made it a lot...yes, I started a bucket list in the glory days of Blurt and I would definitely recommend you have cornbread on your own bucket list...I mean...what is life if you don't experiment like that?

Um...do you think that paragraph sounds a little like Hemingway? I am still reading A MOVEABLE FEAST...and kinda impressionable...

  • Nah. The salad days are more Shakespeare but the bucket list is pure Hollywood. :)

I didn't eat bread for a long time, and then I got a flour mill and a bread machine. I didn't like what I was making, so I started buying bread at the store and making fried egg and cheese sandwiches. I recently found a recipe that gives a satisfying rise with whole wheat flour by adding instant mashed potatoes, so now I am making big rolls and eating one or two every day. After all, I have a hundred and fifty pounds of wheat to grind and eat!
