Apart from the alarm clock, what sound are you likely to hear on first waking? What would you like to hear?

For me it's often the sound of a kookaburra laughing; sometimes there are several calling to each other.

  • That would be very nice. We don't got no mango trees (not warm enough here) but we do have a tamarillo that is absolutely loaded with fruit just at present.

  • You have it. They're different beasties and that's the tamarillo on the right. Very tasty.

  • I learned it from Leroy Jethro Gibbs. My education comes from American comes from.

But congratulations. I've been dangling that out there for a couple of years now waiting for somebody to pounce on it and it finally happened. I feel it's been all worthwhile. :)

    The cat. "I'm hungry bro!"
What would I like to hear? Ask WingedWonder. He's good at interpreting my feelings. This post was edited by Zack at March 3, 2017 4:32 AM MST

I wake up to the sound of my radio going all night low. Then turn it up and listen to 2 programs. Thom Hartmann and Democracy Now. Starts at 6:00 am. So early!

It's usually the sound of a cat walking on me and meowing or a dog sniffing my face.

  • Here in Tenino, it's the thrice-hourly train...24/7...

And I like that a lot...and another morning sound I would like to hear is the nightingale, I have only heard them on a brief visit to Jamaica in 1970.

Kookaburras would be good too, I edited this just in case you might not want your visage broadcast across the whole northern hemisphere...

  • I forgot you had that one. Of course, nobody would know it was me without the horns.

I doubt if the lorikeets are still down there. The people who owned the units used to feed them to make sure they stayed around but they sold out two years ago and there's no on-site manager to look after the place. We haven't been back since.

Hi Didge~ The first sound I hear when I wake up?  My husband breathing.  The sound I would like to wake up to?  The same! :) :)

Hi Didge~ I'm laughing with you and at me!  I almost said that!!!  I stopped because I didn't want to sound degrading.  I have no room to talk. You can't hide from my snoring.  I have been told I can snore so loudly the windows begun to rattle!
You on the other hand, oh, I can imagine.  You sleep quietly and softly.  A soft feather floating just above your whispering breath.  HA!  Not to be disrespectful, but,  I bet you can make the air rumble through the house with the best of us!  I'm calling a funny fib on you Didge and am siding with Didgerina.  Good try my friend... but I don't think anyone is going to buy this one!   Big huge winks and smiles!
