  • As an independent observer... I would agree Obama DEFINITELY Had it.. i watched him on the Letterman show... and on many other occasions he demonstrates it clearly, obviously... and for that alone he wins my respect.. I am a HUGE believer in self-deprecation.. anyone who knows me would say that's the most obvious thing about me.. I make jokes about myself.. I have HIGH confidence but don't take myself seriously.. I don't think one should.. it's a sign of humility, and even perhaps intelligence.. to know we are not infallible, that we don't know everything.. to be humble.. those are things one has to have a fair degree of intelligence to know.. Obama struck me always as a very intelligent man.. a caring man.

Trump's behaviour is the opposite... he is always praising himself, congratulating himself and bigging himself up... even in presence of facts to the contrary.. that to me is a worrying sign of a lack of intelligence and/or of mental health illness.. For one to not see one's fallibility and fault signifies delusion or a marked lack of intelligence.

A true sense of humor is a characteristic that evolved and is genetically inherited. Although just about anybody can enjoy humor -if you know someone seems like a 'funny' person all the time check the palm of their left hand and see if you can find a teardrop shaped loop in the skin ridge pattern below and between their ring finger and small finger. Indicates a person with a genetically inherited sense of humor.

There are probably no funny people in Trump's family background.

  • Ooooh heck.. I just looked at mine... I have a huge tear drop below my ring finger but it's on the opposite side to the small finger.. sooooo does this mean i have a sense of humour but it's very warped :P

That means you have a tendency to be a perfectionist type of personality

    If memory serves me correctly.

  • Can I be perfectionist *and* have an awesome sense of humour please? :P  I am a perfectionist but only with myself.. I don't expect others to be as perfect as me :P

Seriously though, my mum was funny, my aunt, her sister is hilarious, and others of the family are.. my son's funny, well one is and the other can be when he feels comfortable, my daughter has a lot of bad things going on for her but she is still so funny..  so we seem to have a funny gene in the family - I think my teardrop thingy just got misplaced :P

When you have a chance to,  check out your family members' palms. The 'secret'  of psychological palm reading is that the skin ridge patterns of your palms comes from the brain via the nervous system so maybe the location of humor cells in your brain was misplaced somehow..
Anyway long as your humor part of your brain is functioning that is the important thing. This post was edited by Kittigate at March 4, 2017 2:10 AM MST

Self deprecation is just false modesty.

Leaders aren't meant to be humble. There is an intrinsic arrogance in running for political office. Leaders think they know what's best and it's more genuine if they just proudly proclaim their vision. Being self deprecating is as phony as a $3 dollar bill. • "Self deprecation is just false modesty" technically speaking they are two different things. It can be that there is some crossover and *some* people who self-deprecate are being falsely modest but there is a while slew of other reasons why someone might be self-deprecating..for instance some people will use it when they have a VERY low self-esteem, they think they are unworthy, they believe, from past negative experiences, and perhaps childhood reinforcement, that they are somehow lesser in terms of value and ability... so it's not technically correct to assume that all self-deprecation is false modesty. Just saying.

The humorous comments by the media is effective enough for the Orangeman. He cracks a few jokes now and then.  You know, like the one about grabbing, uh, "things".

Trump is a narcissist.  Their egos tend to be very fragile.   He is also a bully and their egos tend to be delicate as well.    The people able to laugh at themselves and not take themselves too seriously are those who feel comfortable in their own skin.
