Today people are called racist for the very least of things.

Being called a racist or someone with a phobia has gotten ridiculous. I'm to the point I don't care.

  • I think there's two sides to this... I agree with Glass re the cheap Chinese garbage comment... But earlier I was listening to the radio about a new American chess master who was described as "the first African American chess master"... My point being too me this description is discriminatory... In my ideal he'd just be another American chess master rather than placing him in a separate category

  • I k see your point but I kinda want to add something worth considering.  Blacks have been marginalized and denied chances in so many things considered the realm of "higher class".   Chess being one of them things. It's significant because of that fact and is an indicator that we are reaching a more level playing field.
You're right  his ethnicity is moot to his ability and it shouldn't be surprising that a " Non- White" has the skill to achieve it and agree 100%.
Is it news because a black person was able to achieve Grand Master or is news because he was finally allowedto reach that level?   I don't have that answer but think it's worth considering.

  • Those thoughts had occurred to me also... Some could say is giving credit where credit is due, others could say he's still being singled out due to race... Like you I don't have an answer

Everyone likes their own tribe/village/group. However, once they start engineering babies, humans will be one blob of computer brained sameness.

well, when you scream and shout calling every little thing someone does or says 'racist' it does eventually invalidate the term, which ultimately means that actual racists could get away with being racist without being called out on it.. cause "now everything is racist".

I've been accused of being racist for ranting about a shoplifter at my store. I didn't even mention what race the shoplifter was, the person accusing me of racism was the one making assumptions..
