I was interviewed by the paper after my brother died in a fire.

I was not interviewed by the TV news, but was caught in a photo op moment when a gubernatorial candidate was campaigning.  He was making the rounds here, with the local news in tow.  I was the first person in the first booth in a coney island that is a landmark here that he decided to stop at...he shook my hand and we exchanged a few words.

  • Sorry to hear about your brother, Bozette. That's a very nasty way to go.

Politicians, even governors love those photo opportunities. :)

    Thank you, Didge.

Yes, but I wasn't particularly happy to be on the evening news.  We'd just run up from the job site to grab some lunch...

  • But how many people could come up with a better story? It's a paradox. A "tall" story that is actually true. :)

  • It's probably best. Interviews often follow misfortune.

  • I was interviewed for our local paper when I won three consecutive Geography Bees in middle school (and came in 3rd in the Spelling Bee).

  • One of my favorite movies is Spellbound, hAve you seen it? It follows eight kids trying to win the spelling bee thing.
I think third is very impressive.

  • You'd be a whiz on a quiz show. That'd take a lot of knowledge.

  • It is refreshing that a paper gives attention to academic and not just athletes.

Once I met a magazine writer in a bar who tried to pump me for ideas.
