True, our meddling has gone on over several decades and under multiple administrations. It is one area where partisanship flourishes.
That we don't know the "bad" guys from the "good" guys is, to my mind, a good reason to mind our own business and not meddle in the affairs of sovereign nations. (And I do not buy the "humanitarian" BS, either. We don't give a damn about such things in other countries.) Having known people who returned from war zones forever changed, I have to wonder how many in the ME have been changed as well.
You're right. We have absolutely no business sticking our noses into the affairs of other countries. We have lost too many good men and women in these needless "wars" we have fomented. As for the humanitarian issue, I do feel sorry for these people who have been embroiled in their civil wars and yes, there are many who have had to flee war torn areas. The food and supplies we send goes to the dictators and warlords not to the people who need it the most. In that respect, throwing good money after bad.
I, too, know troops who have returned from war zones forever changed and not in a good way.
When I think of these things...of the misery and horror that man is capable of inflicting on his fellow man...my heart aches and my mind hurts. I know that sometimes action is necessary. I also know that the majority of the time, our meddling causes more harm than good...and is usually done for gain, not out of compassion.
I'm with you! It's as if "they" are speaking a different language with different needs/wants and totally different agendas. I have no idea who "they" are anymore. I wonder if I ever will? Thank you for your reply Lulu'sMom and Happy Sunday! Stay tuned. Wonder how it will all turn out and when and what it leaves in its wake? :(
I think we're on the precipice of a gigantic 9/11 Lulu'sMom! Trump is reactive. He is not logical/disciplined or calm. He is ruled by emotion. Woe is us! Thank you for your reply! :)
