Well.... America often tries to be... yea...Bit of a surprise in Trump's case tho considering he promised that America would be looking after its own interests rather than quote wasting billions on being the world's policeman... shock horror, you don't think Trump lied do you?
That's kinda not the point.. it wasn't America's place to deal with it.... just as the last war wasn't and America IS acting on it's own without authority and without backing of the UN - just as it did last time.. and look where it got them?? I'm old enough and have hung around Americans long enough to have seen this all before... Deja Vu... lessons never being learned....
And even that wasn't the point... Trump made a promise to the people who voted for him... they CALLED Clinton a warmonger.... look at how Trump has behaved... just a short way into his *leadership* and he's already nearly got America involved in two wars...and he hasn't exactly enamoured himself to a fair few other countries.. AND he's already spent money he said he wouldn't on war like actions...
AND he refuses to admit Refugee children into the country.....
Put it this way too..... we all saw the images.... was there any other country that felt the need to arrogantly charge in, (quite ineffectually as it happened)? No? Perhaps there's a lesson to be learned there..
Trump made children an exception is a point. Now you can call him dishonest and he may very well be. It is your prerogative but let's address this.. "Put it this way too..... we all saw the images.... was there any other country that felt the need to arrogantly charge in, (quite ineffectually as it happened)? No? Perhaps there's a lesson to be learned there.. " The U.S is consistently first to step up so other nations that might would've feel no need. They have a wait and see what the U.S does mentality. No new lesson there just old school.

Uh... Not quite correct.. I think the latest tally is 400,000 dead... Not much stepping in took place... I do wonder if it's a distraction from the inquiries going on into the Russians and the elections and the tax returns and whatever else he's hiding
No one was counting. A distraction it may very well be. I suspect as much. A message also to the visiting head of China and to Iran and those accusing Trump of being in bed with the Russians.

As Oz said. not quite correct... the rest of the world condemned and did NOT support the last war America started... and history proved it wasn't exactly the benevolent action America initially portrayed it to be... the world didn't support America in that war... the only utter idiots, UNDER Tony Blair who did were the UK, and the people of the country did NOT support that...
France, long a close ally of the states didn't want anything to do with it.... neither did anyone else... so it's not a case of the world wanting or waiting for America to step in... the truth is nearer that the world is cringing and just praying that America will stop sticking their nose in and CAUSING wars... Wars exact a terrible price.. in terms of money and lives... America has already nearly ruined itself because of the last round of warmongering.... do you really need to get involved in another?
The last "war" America got involved in was WW II. Since then, there have been military actions in various parts of the world, but Congress has not declared any of them wars.
So the USofA have a lot of catching up to do, if it want to get the top ranking. Or they could try another route, less dependent on weaponry and force. And really make their nation famous instead of infamous.
We are one of the biggest. Our desire to police the world often amounts to nothing more than bullying. And we are surprised when those who are bullied react violently.
I dunno. Old Britain comes to mind when I think of a bully, like back in the colonial times. There were so many bullies throughout history though, usually the big successful empires..
No, just the biggest winner of all time. A lot of people, especially the left, have a tendency to see the winner of a conflict as a bully and see the loser as a victim. That's not necessarily true. Strength is not sin and weakness is not virtue.
The U.S. has done some bad things but so has everyone else. Anyone who thinks that any other nation would have been more enlightened, if they were the world's greatest superpower, is completely wrong.
