    Ode To my Bed

    To rest my sleepy head,

To call a halt to all this thinking

Into this mattress I am sinking.

Shut out the business of the day,

    And except come what may,

For now is the time for sleeping,

And dreams they come a creeping.

    Ode to my bed,

Where I rest my weary head,

A land of softness duvet and pillow,

    Until I wake tomorrow.

    Okay.

I've had sufficient coffee and weed for this.  I'll give it a go.

My bed?  It is the place that I try and rest my head.
For 8 hours, I can dream of the flowers and not wish my brother was dead.

I call it my pad, it has a feature that's so rad.
I stole it from my aunt.  I'd tell you the story, but can't.  It doesn't rhyme, (so, some other time.)

I can sleep anywhere, but I'd rather go there.
    To my bed, safe and sound;

    I'm frigid so there is no one else around;
    to bother me.

So whenever I want, I can get up and pee

Your poetic form is sloppy, but the content is free of any Trump comments. That makes it a winner.

My poetic form is amazing.  It is not to be copied, (just try)  and yet it is clever, witty, original and rhymes.  I am so sick of those damned non-rhyming poems.

You don't think this is a riot?  I am still laughing.

    You have no soul.

    lol Nice.
That bed looks like it belongs to the "Great Oz" seen in the very beginning of the Wizard of Oz.

You asked for "short", so I went into Ogden Nash mode.

  • Ode To My Bed

My bed is the place where dreams feel real
Be they epic. or short, no matter their deal
I can stay there all day, I can stay there all night
It all comes together when my pillow fits right
I can read the newspaper or a big giant book
I love to snuggle down in my safe comfy nook
To sleep and to dream of love or of war
Or monsters straight of folk lore
My bed is so special, so simple and warm
It's the best place to be when there comes a big storm
Good night everyone, it's that time again
My bed calls to me like the roost to the hen
It's time for some sleep and some good rest for the night
I'll see you tomorrow in the bright sunlight

    The End

  • Rumpled sheets
    Untucked covers
    Secretly laughing at Mom.

    God's wounds I hate poetry.
