Discussion»Statements»Rosie's Corner» You WALK when you play golf. How much exercise do you get compared to playing tennis or basketball? Is golf an OLD MAN'S GAME?
I started golfing when I was 13. I no longer can, though. I guess it's NOT an old man's game.

I know a lot of the pros are quite young. Jordan Spieth, Dustin Johnson, Ricky Fowler, Jason Day, Rory McElroy. You see young kids who aren't as big as the golf bags they carry playing golf. But when folks get older you don't see them on a basketball court. Maybe a tennis court. Probably a golf course. Thank you for your reply Ele. Were you good at it? :)
When I play 18 holes of golf using a motorized riding cart, I am exhausted at the end. I am a geezer, near retirement age. But when I was younger, I ran several full marathons, plus motorcycle 'hare scrambles' that were basically full throttle for 2 hours.
My Jim is 81. He plays tennis still but his real LOVE is golf. We live in a retirement community that has a 9-hole golf course. He plays every Saturday but he is there 3-4 times a week "practicing"! He watches golf instruction shows avidly. He is always practicing in the living room as he tries to emulate what he see. He keeps on the lookout for a used golfcart at a good price. He usually walks the course TWICE so they get in 18 holes. You ran marathons..full marathons are 26 miles, right? Motorcycle scrambles? Did you ever slide out and get injured? Jim's younger son Gary has 3 motorcycles. A few months ago he was on the dirt bike and hotdogged his way into a broken collarbone. Gary is 56! SIGH. Thank you for your reply bh! If you are near retirement age you are not a geezer. I'm almost 80. I'm a geezer. Jim is geezer too. But still we're doing darn good all things considered! :) Jim says we're in good shape for the shape we're in! I second that! :)
Tell Gary to stop crashing! (I used to crash nearly every race. Talk about hot doggin' ! Never broke a bone but was knocked out in a crash that broke my helmet.
