Indeed you are correct.. .no point living in the past and the future is, as yet, unwritten... but at the same time we are human beings and human beings, right or wrong form memories.. and we all do look back on those now and then and so I am asking was there a time that you remember fondly? For me there were several contenders... the first thing that came to mind was when I worked self employed as a gardener... it was heaven... to be paid for something you would happily do all day every day - that's hard to beat...
This is the dream I'm working toward. To be paid for something I would do anyway for free! That's amazing that you got to experience that, if only for a short time. Go you!
Like most things ... it's not for everybody. It is dangerous ... my doctor reminded me of that constantly, but it also can be fun. I learned a lot and met a lot of great people in my travels.
Belonging is a strong pull for almost all of us.. to really feel part of things, accepted and welcomed is a wonderful feeling.. I defy anyone to not like that feeling.
Like Sharonna said, 'now'. I enjoy every bit of wisdom I've gained, the financial security I've attained, and the friendships I've nurtured over the years.
I get that.. and I suppose I am really only looking at memories.. as in of a particular period of one's life... Like we don't have to be unhappy or discontent with now.. we can like now.. but don't we all have memories, fond ones of a particular time or times in our life?
Though I am happy with my "now," one of the best phases in my life was last year. It was really down and then really up, but what made it so amazing was being surrounded with best friends and having tons of fun memories now to reflect on. I've noticed that after almost every dark period in my life, the next phase to follow is absolutely phenomenal. Having bad days makes me appreciate the hell out of the good ones.
