Who likes going on Google Street View vacations?

You get to see the world without even having to put any clothes on!  Wait, that's a little TMI.  I do have clothes on right now.  I swear!

Anyway, you get to let Google do the driving!  It's great!

lol.  I wanted to use the screen cap of the guy on the bicycle who just got hit by the Google Street View car but I got a 404 when I clicked on it so I had to use the Google car in the ditch instead when I posted this.

I have always known that. But I try to keep it at a low burn.

It's great when shopping for real property.  You can really take a look at everything around the target.  You just have to remember to always check the date the image was captured.  Sometimes it's years old, especially when you get outside of big cities.

When my husband drove trucks long distance he used it to check out where he was making his deliveries just in case it was a tight fit.

Those dates the image was captured can make it fun.  If the guy's going one direction he's on a two lane country road but put him on the other side of the road it's a few years later and he's on a freeway but I went to the place where I could do that but now I can't do it anymore beacuse they updated the other side of the highway.

I know.  I went to look at the house I lived in some years ago.  The shot of the front still has my car parked out front.  The shot from the side....no car there.  I'm humming the these from Twilight Zone.:)

  • Street View can be a blast. I love seeing parts of the world that I know I'm never going to visit (Tunisia, Albania...it's just cool to see what other parts of the world look like).

Ha ha so it's not just me who does that then?  I have been known to relive a real holiday by using streetview...I relived a walk we did when we were on holiday last year down in Somerset/Devon UK last year and then virtually walked up the hill in the opposite direction.. all without moving a muscle.

Google maps had, and maybe still does, footage from when I took down my net curtains... so if  you zoom in you can see right into my bedroom! And my son was in the footage riding his bicycle round the corner...  A friend in Scotland had himself on there with no top on collecting his trash can from outside his house.

lol.  Google Street View hasn't made it to my house yet.  This is as close as they got (I edited out all of the identifying stuff).  My house is about 3.75 miles down this road, but the road is now paved, has signs and has a center line along with shoulder lines.  I was 16 when Google drove by.

I love it!  What else can provide me the ability to take in all the sights from the comfort of my own home!

I took a spin down the waterfront road in Helsinki the other day.  It looks pretty boring so I have no desire to go there even though my distant ancestors migrated from there to Sweden hundreds of years ago.

I've used the overall aerial pictures to see where friends are on holiday (part of Greece, but not in great detail).

Also to "explore" odd spots of the world I thought intriguing, like Novaya Zemlya.
