My nation. Not the flag (just a piece of coloured bunting with a foreign nation's emblem in the corner), but the people and our collective values, the things we hold dear.
The flag is merely a symbol that represents the country and the people Sbf. At least that is what I view my country's flag to be. Not just a piece of cloth. All the years of blood/sweat/tears it took to build a country . Thank you for your reply and Happy Friday bye and bye! :)
Your flag is different, it's entirely yours. Ours is a British ensign - we haven't been a colony for 116 years, it's time for Australia to grow up and lose the Jack. Adopting the Maple Leaf didn't hurt Canada. That said, a flag is still only a symbol. I pledge allegiance to what that symbol represents, not to the symbol itself.
