I don't remember that ever. EVER. I hate flying. I like the idea, but it sucks to have to deal with flight scheduling and waiting and boarding and being bored until you land.
I grew up near a major airport. On Sundays we used to go there to watch the planes take off and land. I found it quite magical how those guys in that tiny compartment got those behemoths off the ground. :-)
Back in the day, flying somewhere was fun. You went to the airport, you showed your ticket and went through the gate, you got on the plane and they closed the door and you took off. You did all that faster back then than you can get through security now.
Yes, and as I recall people dressed up and were well-behaved, there was actual leg room between the seats and almost every flight included a meal. I even remember asking for and getting a deck of cards with the airline logo on it.
