Do you think the Robot in Lost In Space secretly wanted to kill Dr. Smith?

Let's face it.  Dr Smith was annoying af.  I don't understand why no one in the Robinson family offed the guy, or at the very least, just leave him behind on one of the planets.  I think the robot wanted to kill him but Will Robinson was a sorry sap, had too much of a conscience, and programmed the robot to do no harm to the old b*st*rd.

No.  The first show was much more serious than the ensuing ones. He was an agent from some foreign government trying to undermine the mission.  He reprogrammed the robot to kill everyone on board but then got caught on the ship at blast off.  His extra weight threw the ship off course into meteors or something and it continued on the wrong path He is the reason they were LOST IN SPACE!   Yeah, I don't know why I remember this stuff.  Brain damage probably.

    I'm sure you can relate.
Just when you have a moment.  First, go to bed Harry.  I'm sure it can wait.   This post was edited by Merlin at July 24, 2017 3:26 AM MDT

    Poor Robbie.

He first appeared in the 1956 SciFi movie Forbidden Planet (a true classic, by the way). So by the time he was cast on Lost In Space his patience was probably starting to wear thin . . . . Can't blame him for wanting to off that sniveling Dr. Smith.

(Actually the robot on Lost in Space was called "The Robot". But "Robbie" did actually do battle with "The Robot" on the series Lost in Space. Pretty sure that both robots wanted to take out Johnathan Harris' Dr. Smith character.)  This post was edited by Salt and Red Pepper at July 24, 2017 3:27 AM MDT
