That I was right about Satya Sai Baba.

    That's all I care about.

My enthusiasm and passion...  and if that can be taken a number of different ways...that makes it all the more correct :P

  • "Remember me...as a leech on society..." *croaks*

I don't expect to have much of a legacy outside of the people who love me, but if they remember me for who I was, quirks and all, that's fine by me.

I'm not really concerned about a legacy since it requires a certain amount of accurate judgment about reality.  Can you imagine being eulogized by anybody who though Trump was a good choice?

That I made them laugh out loud.  Not patting myself on my back but I could have been a great comedian .

I was actually just thinking about this because my aunt had an obit a mile long. Overall, she was known and loved for her outgoing attitude and volunteerism. Some of us that knew her on a less superficial level appreciated her tenacity. She really was a force to be reckoned with. To a degree, I'd like the same. Most of the women in my family are pretty fierce- in a good way.

In a way, I want my legacy to be similar to hers. I don't think I'd leave behind a universal message or feeling, but rather, be remembered by different people for different things. Hopefully, my kids would remember me as someone who unfailingly loved them and believed in them. Maybe others would draw strength from or be inspired by my tenacity. Maybe others would see how I connected with my community and think I was a giving person.

Aren't we all that way? I don't want to be remembered for one thing only, but to be remembered for having a positive impact on the person having the memory- whatever that may be.

I like the idea of a legacy that reflects an individual's experience with the person who's gone. Thanks for your thoughtful response.

No memories you'd like children (?), grandchildren (?), any other loved ones, even colleagues, students to have of you? This post was edited by LyricalOne at August 3, 2017 5:50 PM MDT
