I am a recovering germophobe. After being unable to wash my own hands for a while and and I didn't get deathly ill, my fear of germs has greatly diminished.

Not necessarily, but I watch people and they will cough or sneeze into their hand and you think how courteous that was that they covered their cough/sneeze. Then they see you and want to come shake your hand....EEEEWWWW. Put your hands in your pockets and just nod and say hello...right?

I have NEVER been one.  I don't get sick either.  I think people who are overly cautious about germs either have a very weakened immune system and should be wary, or the more popular second variety.  Those are people who have little understanding about how the body works, and think germs are the cause of their woes.

Germs are everywhere.  They are already IN the body.   We can only hope to stave off any offending toxins by keeping our temple clean and healthy.

If you eat right, stay fit and rest properly, you can live among lots of germs and not get sick at all.

That is unless MAN gets involved and screws with Mother Nature.  Then no one is safe and everyone and everything dies.  What a piece of work is man, how noble in reason.

I agree with you 100%.  All these antibacterial soaps and creams and sprays prevent the immune system from working properly.  Basic hygiene is a necessity and foods that need refrigeration should be in the fridge, but washing your hands throughout the day and not putting them near your eyes or mouth are the best way to prevent illness. Remember when we used to call hypochondriacs, hypochondriacs?  Now we call them germaphobes.
