What, if any, kind(s) of music do you like which people who know you wouldn't necessarily expect you to like?

I am very into Gregorian chants and I also like Opera.. Honestly, no one who knows me would suspect :)

Poor Glen. His recent documentary was heartbreaking.

Don't mind the occasional country tune.

LOL that's kinda another surprise.. I love country and that's relatively unusual for someone from the UK

Country's actually come a long way. Not so much of that Minnie Pearl, People of Walmart, my cousin married his sister so I was pining away until I hooked up with my uncle kinda vibe.

  • My guess would be "Cajun."  It's not very popular where I live and it's hard to find if you don't live near its roots.

    Jo-El Sonnier - "Jambalaya"

  • Do you get much Cajun in the UK? We don't hear much here unless we're somewhere near the state of Louisiana.

No, not a lot - it's pretty hard to hear any country music here. Internet radio is the best bet to hear anything cajun, country or anything other than pop music really.

Hmm... I listen to almost everything, so I guess it depends on who we're referring to. My favorite is folk, and I think anyone who sees my posts would probably catch that, but I also listen to some pop, country, alternative, rock, metal, oldies, classic rock, classical, new age, blues, R&B, and jazz. Even some rap is ok, but usually the older stuff. I can't stand most that has been released in the last 5-10 years.

Ahh I can't seem to keep up or like anything released in the last 20 years, so you are doing better than me!  My daughter apparently doesn't like anything I like but her music sounds tinny and whiney to me :P
I like pretty much all music too. I struggle with jazz and classical but think that's mainly because I don't know enough what I like and don't. Love blues, adore metal, like rap.

  • Most people associate me with classical music and indie rock; few would think of me as listening to showtunes, but I do enjoy them, and few would also know that I love listening to pop music in foreign languages.

I like almost all kinds of music.  I like Radiohead which most might not think I would.
Some of the rap is good, in small amounts.
