Is anyone not brave during their "fight" with cancer or alzheimer's?

I would be a big coward and a baby about it. Probably become depressed.

Found out I got 1st stage lung cancer about 2 years ago -tumor was removed by surgery,  follow up CT scan every 6 months now to check for recurrence. Told my doc I think I might rather die early from cancer than possibility of developing alzhiemer's and end up in a vegetable state like my mother did but doc wants to try to keep me alive I guess because she gets points for saving people's lives.
Cancer can be like having bed bugs; difficult to completely eliminate.
