Not in the kitchen....I grill outside often....I SWEAR I went inside for 2 minutes and had chicken on the grill. When I came back outside, there were flames and charred chicken.....to this day, my wife still says "Don't burn the meat".....

There are so many I wouldn't know where to begin... nothing too awful and rarely totally inedible but.. just this week I made custard that was too thick... it wasn't a case of how much to pour.. more a case of  one lump of custard or two.

Often not too much of a problem when you taste it and realize, "Not bad at all"...

Overdid the flour in a white sauce. Got it right ever since.

Also I can't get the toast a delicate shade of black because the smoke alarm keeps going off.

Trial and error often wins the day. My grandmother used to try the same chocolate cake recipe for a week until she got it right. But her wrong was still pretty right. I have the hips to prove it.

Many years ago.  Blueberry cobbler came out like a big biscuit with blueberries in it.  My husband ate it anyway.

We were in a dinner club and we hosted once a quarter.  It was summer so we had a bbq.  I made the potato salad and when I finished mixing it with my hand I realized my index fingernail was gone.  I tried to go through it but could not find it.  I said a prayer.  After dinner and guests had left I found that nail on the very bottom of the bowl.  I cried I was so relieved.  That was many years ago when latex gloves weren't used much in the home for cooking, but from then on when I mixed something like potato salad or meat loaf with my hand, it has been gloved.
